Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings

It's funny how that last bit works.  As a society we've placed moms and their thoughts/feelings/opinions of things on tall pillars and allowed them to guide policy (see: Oprah and any number of other daytime TV shows that absolutely sway public opinion on social matters) but it's mostly men that you see giving their lives on battlefields.  There's kind of a disconnect there.

It's worse than that. There's a factor called, among other things, "the unassailable witness." The left will often use women with small children to say the most outrageous things, counting on others to not challenge them out of respect. It's a trap.

Folks;

I would like to propose a moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings.  Specifically, pejorative misspellings of proper names like turning Diane Feinstein into Diane Fineswine or Swinestein, and turning Liberal into Libtard or Libturd and so forth.

Sure, those little things feel good when you do them.  They are a guilty indulgence that expresses your contempt for these people or things, however I also believe that they make the author look childish and cause the mainstream fence-sitters to automatically write us off as frustrated juveniles with an inability to articulate our thoughts and opinions without resorting to schoolyard taunts and mockery.  When we do this, we discredit ourselves.

It's no secret that the Left has made a career history of establishing itself in the eyes of the public as the "Mental Elite".  They have carefully ensconced themselves in the towers of academia and use this vantage point to lord over and brow beat us -- their adversaries -- and paint us as knuckle-dragging neanderthals with room-temperature IQs.  It is my opinion that we play into their hands when we resort of using pejorative misspellings of their names and they casually dismiss it as being about as base level as a fart joke.

We need to rise above that.  We need to conduct ourselves smartly and remind society that just because we value the Constitution, we are not a bunch of mouth breathing pinheads.

Further, it makes it impossible for a person to search TGO's contents and accurately find articles of interest by using key words when those key words may have been intentionally misspelled by the author who thought it was funny or cute.

So, there it is.  I would appreciate it if everyone would please join me in this.  I have been as guilty of these things as the next person, but I am personally committing to rising above the petty name calling and instead will be focusing even more on letting the substance of my words illustrate how despicable the subject of my derision is.

Thanks.

:)

I imagine that once you've made up your mind on this issue, we'll do what you want.

While you're still thinking about it, here's a few points to consider:

Be sure what you ask for, because you just might get it.

Be aware of the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Be careful that you do not unilaterally disarm yourself from a technique, that when properly applied, is effective.

In any contest with an adversary, whether on the battlefield, the ball-field, or in the marketplace, good intel increases your odds of victory. Capturing a copy of the adversary's "Playbook" is a real prize.

The Left's Playbook is Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals." The Left uses "Rules for Radicals" almost slavishly because so many of their base-level adherents are basically stupid and need to be directed.

Folks on the Conservative side of issues that wish to counter the Left ought to study "Rules for Radicals" and develop techniques to counter the adversary's Playbook.

Rule Five is:

Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Ridicule, including creative miss-spellings, can be an effective adversarial technique. The Left will NOT stop using ridicule, so if the Right does NOT use ridicule, it becomes unilateral disarmament. The more appropriate approach might be to be sure that ridicule is used effectively and creatively. Whatever techniques are used by the Right, expect the Left to ridicule them nonetheless.

I strongly diasgree with your decision, and liken it to using an axe when only a scalpel was required.  However, this is your forum, and I respect your right to establish rules regarding its governance.  I will do my best to adhere to this new policy.

While you were getting worked up over it, did you bother reading my first post or what?  Because at no point did I say this is a rule here.  It was a proposal seeking others to join me in the effort to rise above petty behavior.

Go back and read it again.  :bored:

I think it would be a good idea if the admins reread it as well.  I got irritated because one of the admins, I won't mention any names, obviously took your proposal as a rule and edited my post when I made the two pejoratives McLame and Grahamnesty.  Then they proceeded to make a big deal over it and directed to me to this thread.  Based on the things I have read on this forum, McLame and Grahamnesty are incredibly mild, and they are more than likely something one would hear from any of the top right-leaning talk radio hosts.  Getting busted over something so mild and the way it was handled is what set me off.  This was not something I instigated.

That said, I will admit that I was in the wrong fame of mind when I read the OP, and I completely overlooked the word "propose."  If I would have caught it, I more than likely would not have posted in this thread, but instead would have sent a message to the admin asking them to reread the OP in this thread.  Therefore, I was wrong, and I apologize for getting rather animated.
