Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings

Folks;

I would like to propose a moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings.  Specifically, pejorative misspellings of proper names like turning Diane Feinstein into Diane Fineswine or Swinestein, and turning Liberal into Libtard or Libturd and so forth.

Sure, those little things feel good when you do them.  They are a guilty indulgence that expresses your contempt for these people or things, however I also believe that they make the author look childish and cause the mainstream fence-sitters to automatically write us off as frustrated juveniles with an inability to articulate our thoughts and opinions without resorting to schoolyard taunts and mockery.  When we do this, we discredit ourselves.

It's no secret that the Left has made a career history of establishing itself in the eyes of the public as the "Mental Elite".  They have carefully ensconced themselves in the towers of academia and use this vantage point to lord over and brow beat us -- their adversaries -- and paint us as knuckle-dragging neanderthals with room-temperature IQs.  It is my opinion that we play into their hands when we resort of using pejorative misspellings of their names and they casually dismiss it as being about as base level as a fart joke.

We need to rise above that.  We need to conduct ourselves smartly and remind society that just because we value the Constitution, we are not a bunch of mouth breathing pinheads.

Further, it makes it impossible for a person to search TGO's contents and accurately find articles of interest by using key words when those key words may have been intentionally misspelled by the author who thought it was funny or cute.

So, there it is.  I would appreciate it if everyone would please join me in this.  I have been as guilty of these things as the next person, but I am personally committing to rising above the petty name calling and instead will be focusing even more on letting the substance of my words illustrate how despicable the subject of my derision is.

Thanks.

:)

I intentionally left the thread open for discourse.  It's not an edict or an official policy, it's a proposal that I would like folks to join into.

Also slows down gubmnt web crawlers mining for data to possibly be used as "evidence" in the future.

If you're on the Internet at all, that ship has sailed.

Apparently, the Ivory towers work pretty well.

I'm all for David's suggestion, just pointing what we are up against.

Why let them dictate the discourse? The other side will character assassinate whether we "give" them something or not. They will just make it up. This kinda of stuff is the reason we tend to loose. We allow them to dictate the rules for our side and then enforce them on ourselves while they back, excuse, explain, defend, and spin with impunity.
Ex. Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Biden, and Barney Phrank to name a few.

Trouble maker :). I know I'm guilty. David's right. This community feels a lot smaller than it is. To some of us, it feels lilke our living room. In reality, there are a LOT more folks reading than posting. I'm in.

BTW... how do you spell Piers? :)

Who cares, really?

Those that view us as rednecks are always going to. Us trying to "class" it up isn't going to change that.

There's a lot of that too. I spend lots of time debating with liberals. Most don't want to do anything but blindly follow their king.

Seems like a reasonable idea, but I already get in trouble with the local spelling/English police as it is.

All I can do is try. Thank goodness for the spell check or I would be banned from the site by now.

No, the reason we tend to lose is best described by Ben Shapiro:

"Power derives from institutions.  The right thinks individually; the left thinks institutionally.  And so the left wields more power, and therefore has more opportunity to bully."

They operate as a collective.  Their goals are socialist at the core, and socialism is a collective effort.  Our goals are for greater independence, and as a result we tend not to rally together around a common purpose as they do -- or at least not with the same efficacy as they do.

Your dissent in this thread is a perfect example.  I'm not saying you have to agree with me in the least, but it is definitely a great illustration of independent personal belief trumping what might be for the common good.

I agree but becoming more socialist in nature to win a few socialist or allowing them to dictate the arena is exactly the problem we have on capitol hill with the rhinos. Hasn't worked yet.

Good request and a breath of fresh air if you ask me. Continually behaving in the manner that David described is akin to the boys in the hood "keeping it real". It makes you a joke and no one takes you seriously.

Libtard is actually in the Urban Dictionary.

The point of the thread is correct, we need to "Stand as One" to win ths fight for our rights.

The less ammo we give them the better.
