Not really a car guy, what's the smallest diameter oil filter that you all think would fit on there? I'm not all studdley like Hickok so I kind of need my sights. Really like the concept on these, I want to surpress a few different calibers so its certainly the most economical, plus its really just for fun so I don't really want/need anything too nice.

The adapter is the suppressor. Still the cheapest option by far at $275 inclusive. Especially considering you can use it for several calibers.

Yes, the adapter is the registered part so you can have all the filters you want without additional fees or registrations. But the adapter is an NFA item so paper work and money.

Depending on thread pattern, you could get one of the small import filters that would still allow use of the sights.

I can check the oil filters at my wifes work, I know the parts guys there, its a Nissan dealer. I just need a thread pitch for the adapter

I don't know of any oil filter that would be small enough to use the sights on something like a pistol. You may find something small enough to work with something like a AR where the sights are quite a bit higher than the barrel.

Another thing to think about is the smaller dia. filters tend to be fairly short also. I bet sound suppression whould suffer.

I guess you could make your own supperssor that would thread onto the registered adaptor.

Also, the more I think about it the more I wonder if this is really legal. Basiclly all they are selling is a thread adaptor and calling it a registered suppressor. I'm no lawyer but you'd think the part that actually does the suppressing would be the registered part.

You guys really need to learn to shoot with both eyes open. :) If you do then you will realize you CAN use the sights with this. They have been out for a number of years.

Also, you cannot just replace the oil filter with a new one. The ATF said the suppressor needs to go to a FFL capable of repairing a suppressor for the filter change.

Rather than go smaller I would go bigger, as in longer, for use on larger calibers.

It would be nice to seem some stats of dB reduction on and AR-10 and AR-15 compared with and without this unit attached.
