TWRA Requesting Public Input for 2013-2014 Hunting Seasons

Recommended Posts

How about an open season on hogs. As a matter of fact make it a requirement to shoot on sight any feral hog a hunter sees. No day light hours requirement either. They are going to over run this nation if we don't get every person with a gun killing them.

I do not hunt for sport, and haven't since 2001, but I would not mind hunting hogs.

Got my comments in about hunting predators at night. I even suggested a shotgun/rimfire only or shotgun only at night. Either way I would be happy.

I'm not sure, but I think it's because of small game hunts.

I wish my little girl could use my 25-20 or Hornet for turkey.

Centerfire for Turkey isn't going to happen here anytime soon. How old is she? Maybe 20 guage? .410?

She's nine. 28 gauge is the legal minimum. I have a 20, but it's a 22 mag over and 20 under. As long as I didn't have a 22 mag round with me she would be legal, but she would freak out if the game warden searched us. I'm not certain she could handle a 20. I have been incrementally increasing her recoil exposure since she was four. She's at about %80 of a 308. She's also never fired a rifle that wasn't suppressed. I guess I'm afraid to let her touch off a round in the gauge and end her daddy/daughter time.

.410 is legal.

#4 or smaller shot is allowed in all gauges for turkey

BTW, let her wear foam earplugs when hunting.  That's what I do.

Won't hurt a thing at that age.  You are doing the calling & listening anyway.  She will hear them fine, just a bit quieter.
