TN Handgun Carry Permit - Almost there!

Took (and passed) the Handgun Safety Class on Dec 31st ($50 plus 48 rounds of ammo). Went to the DMV and filled out the application and had the picture taken this Tuesday (and paid my $115). Have an appointment to have fingerprints done on Monday the 21st. Then the wait begins...I am being told a couple of months as a rule.

Times of course vary depending on demand and time of year, but when I applied for mine roughly the same time last year (first of January), it took just a hair around three weeks.

I'm thinking that the demand may be just a bit higher this year than last. All the classes around here are full full full and there were lots of people at the DMV on Tuesday waiting as well. This time it may be a little longer...time will tell!

They have up to 90 days ...

 

Mine & the wife's permit took about 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly.  I'd probably guestimate 2 months :)  The time certainly goes slower during the wait, but once you have it, its a great feeling :)

I have been 3 weeks to the day, called today and mine hasn't even shown in the system yet. They said they are back logged.

Been about 3 weeks for me too, just kinda curious so I called and she said it was in the process of having the background check done

I am going on 7 weeks, still nothing.

I did my finger prints on 1/7/13 and received card on 2/4/13. I was expecting a much longer wait.

Yeah, that was good. I did finger prints on 12-27 and am still waiting.

I applied at the Chattanooga DMV Monday Jan 14th and had my fingerprints done the same day.  I received my permit last Saturday  Feb 9th.  About 3 1/2 weeks and I was very pleased it was processed that quickly.
