Someone help me out here.  I fully support this but my understanding is federal law trumps state law.  If this bill is passed I don't know how it can be enforced.

You can hear some around here say that, but the truth lies in the Constitution. The Supremacy Clause affects only "enumerated power".

Gun laws are not enumerated powers, like most laws passed, and the 10th Amendment allows for state assertion, contrary to some of

the stuff people assume. Enumerated powers are things like coining money, common defense, etc. Look at the Constitution. It's well

worth reading. It is plain english and I don't understand how people can misinterpret it.

Why say "semi automatic" only?

 

Better to just say "any currently legal firearm or firearm accessory" or something.

 

Off top of my bean, the Fiend-Stein list will apparently include bans against

 

- "revolver shot shell" guns like SW and Taurus makes

- shotgun capacity is limited to 5 shells even in pump models

- +10 mags are made for certain bolt guns,

 

I'm sure there are some other examples.

After watching OB today, I immediately wrote both my state and Federal Reps.

 

Here is a response from my state senator, Jack Johnson

 

Dear Mr. RobThatsMe

 

Thanks for emailing me regarding the attack on our 2nd Amendment rights.

As a member of the TN General Assembly, I can assure you that no bill will be
passed at the state level that in any way infringes on the right to keep and
bear arms.

Unfortunately, some in Washington, including our President, have a different
agenda.  If we can identify a way to protect Tennesseans from unwanted federal
intrusion through legislative action, we will pursue it.  Until then, let's hope
that the pro-gun control advocates in Washington are defeated.

Yeh, actually both. You're right. Both were put in there for the very reason to protect the states and the people from a tyrannical

government over-reaching exactly the things they are getting away with. People assume too much about their government and it's

power to do anything it wishes, but states like Wyoming and maybe Montana have been leading the charge against it. All states, if

they had responsible leadership, should be doing the same. The problem they won't is caused by the extortion racket the feds

have with things like the highway fund, just one of a thousand examples.

The Highway fund hasnt funded much of anything in several years, most of the highway maintenance and construction in TN is done with state money some comes from federal grants and very little actual federal funds are ever dispursed to the places they say they are supposed to go when they earmark them for say the highway fund. All the money earmarked for high speed rail and rail infrastructure improvement 4 years ago disappeared with only about half actually going to where they said it would. I would bet that if the states likeTN, TX, WY,etc could cover a lage portion of the federal appropriations that the fed would withhold if they tried, I would actually support higher taxes at the state level if it meant I could keep my constitutional rights in tact (and I freakin hate taxes with a serious passion)!

No difference where the money came from. Those grants are our tax dollars held over our heads and redistributed to

someone else's liking.
