D3vo is now a new lifetime member of the NRA (upgraded from 5 year annual).

Everything Will said is correct and let me add a few things.

I called 1-877-NRA-2000 and the woman I spoke with told they had a $600 special.  I looked at one of the other TGO threads and found 1-800-672-3888 option 3 and after waiting for 17 minutes spoke to an NRA representative.  He explained they are having a lifetime membership offering until February 28, 2013 for $300.  This is not a lifetime membership sponsor offer.  You will not be asked for anyone's lifetime number.

Hey,

I've been a life member for years. How more than ever we need someone who is involved and has their finger on the pulse.

They must be defending our rights and making a difference because the press and "the one" are trying to demonize us.

We need to help them help us. I just sent them $25 bucks.

Doesn't sound like a  lot but it all helps.

The Huffington Post is reporting the huge outpouring of NRA membership is due to the lifetime membership discount.  It might play a part, but I think there is more than the discount in play.  I looked at it as an opportunity to upgrade at a discount and still support the cause.  I just don't know if folks that have never been members would be so moved simply because of the lifetime membership.

NRA Membership Spike May Be Driven By Huge Discount

"While some gun owners may feel jittery about the prospects of new legislation, the NRA is also giving them another incentive to join its organization. Since December, the group has been running a major discount membership campaign. The Huffington Post called up the hotline and was offered some impressive deals."
