Magazine Spring Question

Recommended Posts

I bumped into a co-worker earlier today who knows I'm a bit of a gunny, and the small talk quickly turned to guns, especially the big "what next?" regarding potential legislation and executive orders.  He's had a Ruger .357 for years, but recently added a SR9c to the stable, along with 2 17-rounders with grip extensions, along with the standard 10-round magazine.  His concern was eventual magazine replacement, especially regarding the so-called "high-capacity" magazines.  Based on the volume he shoots, those should last longer than he does, but I told him that if (and when) a mag craps out, all that is generally needed is a new spring as long as the feed lips are still in tolerance.  We then checked out Numrich and Wolff to see if springs were available - now it's entirely possible (and fairly likely) that I don't have the smartphone-fu to find the correct parts, but I couldn't.

Is anyone selling replacement springs for SR9 magazines?  If not, what would be a reasonable replacement?  I'd think a spring from a similar-sized P95 could work, but have no way of knowing, and I do not want to steer this man wrong - after all, he's a responsible adult who wants to get more into shooting.  I want to be as supportive and helpful as possible.
