Midway Filling Backorders, But Not Allowing Any More?

Well,

Like many of you, I placed backorders with Midway and Brownells several weeks ago.  I woke up this morning with this letter in my inbox.  It seems they know more than we do at this point.

Dear XXXXXXXX,

We have been holding some products for you, waiting for other items to arrive so we could ship your order complete.  However, we believe an Executive Order could be released any day prohibiting the sale of certain products such as high-capacity magazines and AR-15 parts and accessories.  Therefore we have done a partial release of your backorders to ensure that any of these items and other items we had in inventory waiting to ship complete are all on their way, in case such an Order is forthcoming.  You will receive a shipping notification shortly.  Other items on backorder, that we have not yet received, are not affected by this partial release.

We appreciate your understanding and your business.  We always put Customer Satisfaction first and believe this action is in the very best interest of our Customers.

Sincerely,

MidwayUSA Customer Service

It looks like my PMAG backorder is being filled, but I still have another 4 or 5 orders with them for other mags that are still sitting.

A bit more further research, and they are no longer allowing the order of any magazines larger than 10 rounds.   I've never seen this happen at Midway and I've been a customer for several years.

Status On These Mags is, "Out of Stock, No Backorder"

I don't think they know much more than we do. I think they are making a smart and cautions business decision. The last thing they want to do is order truckloads of merchandise that they may not be able to sell in the near future. They may or may not lose a relativity small amount of money, but they stand to lose far more if they order inventory they can't well.

its not everything, its the stuff that they ran out of a month ago and have a bajillion unfulfilled backorders for.

semi-auto rifle ammo, bullets, mags, 22 ammo, etc.

I mean midway is one of THE top sites for the stuff, I can only guess they have orders for some 5 million boxes of 22 LR ammo or something....

Absurd.  An Executive Order cannot stop manufacture and sale of magazines.  Magazines are not regulated.  There is no law to enforce on them.

Granted, His Highness has never really cared about the law.  But I fail to see how this could be done.
