Try something.  Open the Commercial Appeal's attached link, type in a name and hit search, type in a city and hit search.  One of our recently elected Senators (rhymes with Niceley) opined last evening that the TN Legislature had passed legisaltion that would preclude anyone generating a list, said information had to be "you have to know the name and address and get it one at a time. specifically prohibited is publishing a list" and "Well everyone wants transparency as I've heard it from your group as well. I can see access to the data but not for publication."

All three permits with my last name showed up the last time I tried, but I won't visit there anymore, when they probably get paid

by the click, like most everyone else. :D

It says:

Source: Tennessee Department of Safety; public records include permits
issued before Dec. 3, 2011, and valid as of today

Wonder why it stops at 12/03/11?

BTW, typed in my last name and got over a dozen hits. Clicked on mine and it gave 1st middle and last name, DOB and date of permit with expiration date.

My understanding is that one must periodically pay a state fee for access to the latest data base version of the registry.

I don't have a reference for accuracy of that statement, but have seen it posted as fact here a number of times.

Since our birthdays are part of our identities; if somebody stole my identity, could I say the commercial appeal is liable because they published part of my identity without my knowledge or consent?

Sure, you're perfectly free to say that. ;)

Now that the criminals have the list of gun owners by city all they need is a phone book to start matching addresses to the names.

Well, it's been online for what, maybe 3.5 years now? So dunno if any specific crime has been attributed to it.

Looks like they may have given up with updating it. It's never been over a year out of date before.

A report I saw on Fox and friends on thursday said it was put up in 2006. Zip codes with more permit holders saw a decrease in crime while zips with fewer permit holders saw an increase in crime according to the report by William La Jeunesse.

Sorry but I can't find a link to it online.

I know it has been up for some time. I don't recall being able to search by county, though I may have not paid attention.

You could always search with any one field. Just checked, and you can also still get entire listing with one click.
