Thanks for the AR Uncle Sam! (Del-Ton kit)

Well, thanks to Uncle Sam, I was finally able to order my AR kit from Del-Ton. I went with the mid-length flat top with chrome lined barrel (non-chrome was on 8-12 week backorder), OD furniture and the cushy ergo grip. I ordered the kit on Sunday and it was sitting at my door today. I felt so special when I pulled it out of the box and saw a hang tag attached to the upper with my name on it. Anyways, everything went together super smoothly and I think it looks great. The real test will be at the range this weekend. I also picked up a couple surplus mags to go along with this P-Mag. I figured I had to buy at least one to go along with the OD theme. The red dot is a Bushnell Holosight from eBay. Apparently according to the guys at AR15.com, they are made by Eotech and pretty good substitutes for 1/3 the price. I also got a rear iron sight...not sure if I'm going to put that on as well or just go with the red dot for now. Here she is...

Looks good Brandon. Let us know how she runs and also how that optic works out. I need to get something for my new AR I just picked up and Eotech performance at 1/3 the price sounds good to me.

Yea, here's the pricing break down:

Tactical Innovations lower - $110 OTD

Del-Ton kit w/ above mentioned upgrades - $560 shipped

Bushnell Holosight - $150

Looks great! Can you get a review up of the bushnell sight when you get a chance? Ive read the same things and it looks like an outstanding deal.

Dunno if you will find this useful or not, but here it is a good lube chart...

I like weaponshield or breakfree CLP.

Nice set up.

I've had a Holosight for years and really like it. From what the L3 reps have told me the Holosight is basically "previous generation" EOTech technology and minus the metal "armor covering" over the sight portion.

+1 on the Bushnell. I had no idea this was available.

I had a Holosight for a while on a Ruger KAC556 machinegun. It was great and held up with no issues (can't say that for all the sights I had on that rifle. I had a Tasco ProPoint that broke twice).

Btw, even though I converted to AK's years ago, that's a very nice looking AR.

Brandon, very nice. Can't wait to see it and shoot a couple rounds through it at the range next week.

Yes...the rifle kit included all trigger components.

OK...., Now I'm tracking. The Del-Ton was their complete rifle kit.

Well Done! :(

Very Nice, I really like thbig cushy grip, LOL

Good luck and enjoy the weapon

Thanks...I'm really liking this grip. I have little girly hands and the stock plastic grip either jams my middle fingers together or spreads them way out and it isn't comfortable at all. I highly recommend this Ergo grip. I heard the Tangodown grip is pretty nice as well.

Yes...base price on their rifle kits is $465 + shipping. I upgraded a few things bringing it up a bit in price. I should have a full range report tomorrow, including the Holosight, for those who were asking about it.

Very nice rifle. I keep thinking about buying more uppers for my bone-stock home-build 20" A2. But hell, I can't afford to shoot the one I have. Woe is me! :D

Well I finally got a chance to take this gun to the range and I am very happy with it. I fed it about 80 brass-cased rounds (Remington & PMC) and then a mix of Brown Bear and Wolf steel-cased. Total was about 200 rounds and no problems whatsoever. Mags were Okay Industries and a PMAG...both performed as expected. The Bushnell sight also seemed to work well and hold zero. I had no trouble seeing the sight, even in bright sunlight. After bore-sighting it at my house, I was able to hit paper at 100 yards pretty easily. Overall I am super happy and have no complaints. I also added a front hand rail and vertical fore-end grip.

BTW, there was a guy at the range insisting that I was going to ruin my AR by feeding it steel-cased ammo. I finally told him, hey, its my gun and I'll feed it what I want to...leave me alone so I can enjoy my range time in peace. :tough:
