Good news about Cabelas

Well it seems that Bristol will be home to both a Bass Pro and a Cabelas. Contracts have been signed and construction for Bass Pro has begun.

Both should be open by 2014.

Hey! East Tennessee needs them too!

The run to Knoxville is an hour.

Give a guy a break. :pleased:

Maybe they'll just be open on race days or something. ;)

Bass Pro is not competitive, you could go to school, import the most expensive materials in the world, assemble them and still beat their prices by 25% lol

This will be good regarding Cabelas.  I had never been to a Cabelas before until last year.  I was on a business trip to Michigan, and had an extra few hours of the evening, and I drove down to the Dundee store.  I was expecting another Bass Pro, and boy was I fooled.  You could fit about 3-4 of the Seveirville Bass Pros into that one location.  They had one of the largest gun displays I had ever seen by a retailer, then the gun room was even more impressive with the fine shotguns and hunting rifles they had on display.  The scenery of the taxidermy items were beyond anything that I have seen, and they had built a mountain inside the store, and still yet the store was like I said 3-4 times the size of Bass Pro.   Regarding pricing, I did not notice anything out of the ordinary, and seemed to be in line with Bass Pro, Gander and etc.

Regarding Bristol, I believe I read awhile back there was a specific reason and footprint they wanted, and Bristol fit.  I recall it is going to be built on the VA side of Bristol (I am not 100% sure about that).  I will try to find the article that I recall reading.

Yes on the VA side. We have 4 Interstate highways within about an hours drive. 4 TVA lakes and a couple of national forests.

Also for Cabelas it pretty close to their Wheeling WV store so the logistics are good.

Also it was just announced that they are gonna add a powersports department. Gonna be a big ole store.
