I think that is right, but I also believe that they don't keep much ammo on hand. They have just enough ammo to "get to the armory" in a sense. I think this is the case anyway. Nevertheless if true...a much better attitude that some places in the world.

Mandatory service in military, then you keep your issue weapon. I didn't watch the video, but there was one where a guy had his gun, his fathers gun, and his grandfather's gun. They also have shooting days where ammo is provided I believe.

May seem like a good deal, but they are still heavily regulated. They have no standing military, only militias. They can opt to keep their issued weapon at the end of their service, but it must be converted to a semi-auto. They are issued weapons but are no longer issued ammo (1999 Gun Act). If they wish to purchase any personal weapons, they must obtain a permit to do so (Schengen Treaty). All firearms obtained in any manner since 1998 have to be registered (Schengen Treaty). Airsoft Guns or any toy gun that looks like a real gun are regulated by the government (Schengen Treaty). Ammunition is registered at the time of purchase in the seller's bound book (1999 Gun Act). Carry permits are only issued to those that have a need. Weapons may only be transported under certain conditions.

 

Not quite the gun Utopia IMO.
