Carbine buffer

I'm looking at a standard carbine buffer that was in a kit I just bought. The end that strikes the buffer retainer is cut at an angle like all the others I have, but its cut a little more aggressive. I can actually move the buffer around with my thumb and make it come out of the tube without pressing the retainer down. Normal? I can't make any of my other guns do it. I'm thinking the buffer may be cut wrong.

See no one has responded.

Can only tell you that I have one round buffer and two ( both UTG kits) with the 3 sided buffers.

The UTG ones are certainly closer to sliding by the pin with a flat side aligned with it, but can't quite make them do it without depressing it.

So have no real definitive advice there. Have you actually shot the thing? Does it reliably perform?

I only got into ARs about a year ago, and when I first noticed a three sided one instead of round one that came on my first rifle, my first thought was, "why"?

Haven't shot it yet. I had just put it together when I noticed the buffer would come out without pressing the retainer down. All I can see is the buffer coming out while shooting.

Put buffer in another of your ARs.

Wondering if it could be out of spec retaining pin rather than the buffer. Edited by Oh Shoot

I tried it and the buffer seems to be the problem. It comes out of the other AR's as well. All the other buffers seem to be cut at a perfect 90 degree angle. The problem buffer is also cut at 90 degree but right at the edge it has a small 45 degree cut. This is like a small ramp on the very front edge of the buffer.

The buffer will not come out while shooting. It will not affect function at all. I have a rifle that does not have a buffer retainer and has thousands of rounds through it. Other than a PITA when removing the upper or cleaning the gun it will not be an issue.

Can you post a picture? Sure it isn't the buffer retainer being out of spec?

Yeah, meant to mention, as long as pin holds buffer back well enough to open the rifle, doesn't matter. Was mainly curious about the specs, since none of mine will do that.
