So who isn't really worried about the current shortage of stuff?

While I wouldn't mind accumulating a bit more reloading supplies, I'm actually adequately stocked. I learned my lesson on the first Obummer election.

Anyone else?

The very same thing on my mind.

I did not panic buy or sell.

Ain't gonna run out anytime soon.

Like a dummy, I sold my first AR a long time ago, and I may have possibly waited too long to get another one. I've got the lower half covered, now I'm making an attempt at the upper half. Other than that, I'm not too concerned.

I have an ar-10 on order that I will probably receive in about 6 months or so.  I am doing quite well on everything else.  Since I don't believe anything is going to happen, I am just waiting for summer when prices should plummet.

Not worried.  I'm kind of excited for the flood of AR's to hit the market once this craze is over and people start fire selling them because they spent money they didn't have to buy something that didn't go up exponentially in value.  At least I hope I am correct.

I didn't see any fire sales going on after the 08 election, and other panics we've seen over the last few years...  have you?

I wish I had more.

I mean I have enough for hunting but I don't want to go target practice as much.  At least until I can find more to buy.

No, really I'm just speculating.  I wasn't paying attention in 08, as I wasn't really plugged into the shooting community at all back then.  I had a couple of guns, but that was it.  I was in a different place in my life.  I remember hearing some of the news reports, but it seems that this time around the frenzy is more pronounced.

I hope so, too, because I refuse to pay the inflated prices of today. I will find one for what I consider a fair price, or I'll go without.

I'm not overly concerned as I don't think much will ultimately happen. The only thing I've changed is I'm now on a "catch and release" plan as far as ammo goes, which is to say I'm only shooting half of what I buy and no dipping into the stash. Much in the same way I'm not feeding the market by panic selling I doubt I will go looking for any fire sales later. If someone has something I want at a price I'm comfortable with I'll buy it but I'm not holding out to find $800 rifles for $400-$500 though. It would be nice to have a pistol caliber carbine, but I can wait.

The prices eventually fell enough to give 2008/2009 buyers remorse, but as best I recall it took a year or two rather than 6 months. OTOH if something goes up real quick maybe it can go down real quick too.

It must be "relative newcomers" buying in at these prices? Its not the same folks that were paying thru the nose in 2009 is it?

I bought all the handguns last year that I needed and I'm not a black rifle guy. Whatever happens, I don't believe that self defense type handguns and hunting shotguns / rifles will likely be affected much. I'm fully stocked with ammo and I'm still finding it even with the panic buying (you pay for the availability). I'll continue to train although I'll need use my P22 more often. I think that things will return to normal but it may take 6 to 12 months.

Bottom line - I'm not worried about the short term. I am worried about the long term and erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights. I've been on the New York Gun Owners forum and those guys are real worried. Long term, it's an indicator to me that our constitutional rights are at risk.

I didn't really get scalped in the 08/09 scare, but I certainly had to wait a long time. I didn't really need anything back then, either.

All I did was modernize and improve.

In 2008/2009 I had gone several years buying not much, using up previous stock of reloading supplies and not motivated to get new guns. So I bought at "too high" prices in that period because I'd about run out of reloading components and coincidentally got the hankering for some new guns. I didn't panic buy at crazy prices, but had to wait longer to find stuff and paid more than I wanted, but heck people ought to just give it away out of the kindness of their hearts. :)

Before 2008 I'd just got too complacent that I could buy bullets, primers, powder, loaded ammo, cheap and plentiful, and got blindsided. Made sure not to get caught again.

Thats why I wonder if the panic-buyers this time are a new generation? Or do they go thru so much ammo, and buy guns so frequently that they are always in need any particular year?

I think if there is no ban on Assault Weapons then we will see a flood of guns hit the market from manufacturers who are running full speed to produce eligible inventory, plus those who spent money they didn't have...

I wish I could find 9mm ammo, but atleast I can find 45.

Hindsight is always an expensive lesson. Romney would not be going after your guns, or any of the other 11 or 12 R candidates that ran for the nomination. People have to sleep in their bed if they make it hard. Only hope it's not too long and too expensive to overcome this lesson we are learning, and hope we never forget it also.

Honestly, I believe many of them are those that mistakingly thought Obama would not be reelected. I knew better.
