walmart and ammo

Recommended Posts

They has some Remington 22 bulk pack at the collierville walmart this morning.  They also had Win 38+P and a couple of the smaller boxes of 223, Tula and Winchester I believe.

I know some of the guys said they had to wait about 20 minutes for service, couldn't find anyone to help. I have had issues in the past with the Remington 22's so I didn't pick any up but when I left about 20 minutes ago there were only about 6 boxes left.

Last night buddy called they have .22s in but they only opened on case and left the other on the floor. I said ok on my way. He calls back she stuck 3 boxes under the register. I get there walk in heard he telling another customer all we have are 38 specials and some 308 tula. I get to the counter she said you see anything in the case you want? I replied nope but I will take those  boxes of 22 sitting under the register. She gets that deer in the headlights look. How did you see those? I dont know who put those there. I have been back in the back blah blah blah. Well low and behold as Im walking out her husband is walking in. THis is the first time I know from personally the employee has hid ammo or waited to put out so they could take break and buy it.

Do what you feel but I have heard straight from a managers mouth, that I know well, that they do not have to sell ammo. It is up to the managers of each store whether or not to stock and order. If it continues to be problematic expect to see less ammo. Edited by Patton

I would of went to the manager also... it's against policy to hold stock back while your on the clock to purchase it while not on the clock...

Why would a manager want to not sell something that sells out virtually immediately after being unboxed?

Anyone here go to the Walmart in hermitage? Every time I go I keep an eye out for .38 special for my grandfather for his revolver but every time I check I always see 30-06, some shotgun shells and never any 38 or 22 or 9mm etc the case is almost always empty

I haven't seen ammo there since December, but it's not the one I stop at in the mornings.

This manager is an anti anyway so she would probably just assume it not be sold but if she has a reason.
Ammo is such a small percentage of their sales it wouldn't matter.

If you're desperate enough to stand in line for hours and leave empty-handed, why not just pay the inflated prices that some are asking? Your time must be worth something.

I wouldn't say 'desperate'.....I'm just frugal.  I'll occasionally give up a couple hours of sleep before work starts to get .22's at $0.04 per if I think I have a shot.  Didn't cost me to be there, wouldn't have profited me to sleep in, so I think the benefit/cost analysis shakes out on the side of taking the 'risk.'  However, paying the inflated prices would cause me to have to offset the cost with more income (not always possible), or to give up something else (i'm stubborn).  Time is free (unless it's time taken away from profitable endeavors), money isn't.

$5 says the guy standing there at 4am was a reseller.

Yup....I'm sure he was.  I absolutely refuse to buy from gougers.

i could care less if someone was buying to resell or not

what i am worried about is the lack of being able to get ammo or reloading stuff it seems to have dried up overnight

yes i know things have been hard to get for a few months but as of last week i cant find anything

the main place i get surplus powder tells me it must now be destroied and brass must be crushed

the price on brass cases is now about 6.00 per pound its going to get very expencive to reload very soon

+1 homeagain

But the thing you have to remember here is, If you stand in line at AS you are a shooter and a sportsman, but if you go to WM before 7am and stand in line your a reseller, hoarder or breakfast club member.

Do you have a source on this? This is evil if confirmed. This is something to share with Congressman and Senators.

How did they get the word? There has to be some sort of order on official letterhead from someone. This de-mil battle was fought previously. Before I retired, I was the Director of Public Affairs at Lackland Air Force Base and we sent TONS of brass to DRMO because of the Basic Trainees' shooting. A couple of Congressman put an end to proposed de-milling of this military brass. This requirement would be a change and contrary to the desire of Congress. These changed requirements always have a paper trail and the de-mil call was successfully fought once already during the Obammunist's administration. It is a scandal of the first water, right up there with DHS buying billions of rounds under suspicious and not fully explained circumstances. This type of crap makes me hot, hot, HOT.

Fox News and the conservative blogs would love to get a hold of this, I'm thinking.

This isn't the best source, but this is what I could find quickly:

This needs it's own thread, this is big news!

This shouldn't be hidden in a thread about Walmart.
