What if you're rejected?

I've never had a problem before... but I was thinking about this.

Say you find your favorite firearm online and want to buy it, having it delivered of course to your FFL. You pay for the gun, it get's shipped, you go through the TICS and find yourself rejected? You've already purchased the gun, the FFL can't give it to you and can't keep it... what happens then?

You appeal, hopefully gets corrected and get your firearm.  If the appeal is denied, you work with both dealers so the gun goes back and both are paid for their time and shipping.  If as a last resort, you get the receiving FFL to sell the firearm for you and forward proceeds based on sales price.

Some online dealers won't take a gun back, period so find out the return policy on the front end.

Well you should know before purchasing if there is a legitimate reason to which you may be rejected from purchasing a firearm, now that being said often times people do wrongly get their paperwork denied normally over a simple mix up via one of the parties involved. Simply fill out and send off your appeal that the gun store will supply you with and they will notify you when your paperwork comes back clear and you can pick up your firearm. If there is no legitimate reason for you being denied(IE no criminal charges pending or new convictions or old convictions for first time buyers) your paperwork will come back clear after the appeal.

Bottom line if you think there may be something legally binding that will prevent your paperwork getting approved I would not order a gun online before going to my lgs and getting a green light.

LOL, wouldn't know who or where to begin.  Gun stores get a YES or NO and if appealed, they get a YES NO or CONDITIONAL and any FFL that transfers on a conditional is nuts.

I've seen it happen.  It's a sad story to see a firearm in limbo.  It's essentially the gun stores as the transfer has been completed from the seller to the receiving gun store so legally, a shop can tell someone sorry and then sell it but "correct" is not always "right".

If this ever happens to anyone, DO NOT make a statement like "I'll have my brother/father/wife" just pick it up as YOU WILL NOT see that weapon (from a upstanding shop) as you have just stated you wish to do a straw sale.  Work with both vendors for the best outcome.  You may lose some money but you could lose it all being stupid and saying something Yeagerish.

So what does D&T charge for transfers? I'd rather actually buy the gun from someone... but local pickings are a little slim.

Last night they charged me $15 for the transfer and the standard $10 background check fee. Be sure to tell them your a TGO member. :)

There's a TGO discount. I've done several with them. They do a helluva job too. Never dropped the ball.
