Can we say murder...

Reading the article the key quote is this:
“I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”
How is that different from anywhere else right now? If you turn towards a cop holding a gun in your hand there's a very good chance you're going to get shot. I don't care if you're in Chicago or Tennessee, I've always been told that even if you're completely and legally in the right, when the police show up your gun better be holstered.

Somehow I feel that a lot of Chicago cops are not as well trained as some civilians. However, having said that, if you turn toward a cop with your gun drawn you're probably going to get shot.

That was also pointed out in the article. I believe the issue is it sounds like he is making it clear that he's fine with shooting people to make a case for gun control. Sounds like he is going to blame lack of gun control for police shootings.

The problem here is that, believe it or not, people forget what they have in their hand when they are approached from behind, and sometimes from the front. Long story short, a guy tried to break into my in-law's house when my SIL and BIL were there watching my kids. When my wife and I arrived the guy, (high on drugs), was throwing his body into the door. I backed him away from the door and told my wife to call the police, but she got her father's 1911A1 instead. The next thing I know I see her pointing it at him via my peripheral vision, and I told her to put it away. She simply handed it to my BIL, and when they arrived their focus was on my BIL instead of the bad guy. They drew on him and ordered him to drop the weapon. He didn't register what he was holding, and could have easily been shot. Fortunately, I knew one of the officers and told him who the threat was. It could have ended much worse.

I know there are people who get caught in dire positions that may include a gun in their hands, but the article, and the quote

by the Chief about a licensed carry holder turning his weapon towards a police officer was not much more than a veiled threat.

He wants no citizen to be able to defend himself and he, and his boss, don't give a damn about crime in that city, or there would

have been a different statement made.

There will always be a chance of that happening, but for that to be the focus to take against having a lawful defense of self, is

reprehensible. Of course, those foolish people in that city keep on allowing thugs to rule them.

Exactly. He is expressing his butt hurt over citizens being allowed to have guns.

Will they execute people when told its holstered on their person? Or just taze them and take them down to get the weapon in their control?
