CALL TO ACTION: WalMart Campaign by TNP

Via contact us at Walmart Corporate I sent this last night:

I just learned that Walmart plans to meet with VP Biden, in violation of the "Federal Advisory Committee Act" which mandates a 15 day public notice for any committee which advises the executive.

I am not surprised Biden would violate this law on the way to violating the Bill of Rights. I am disappointed that Walmart would participate in this illegal act.

I will not accept any restrictions on my right to keep any bear arms, including magazines, ammunition, or gun registration - period.

I am a long time customer of Wal-mart, spending many thousands of dollars there, much of it in sporting goods, guns and ammo. This will CEASE if Walmart caves in to any government infringement on my rights.

Do likewise if you're so inclined. Plagarize freely!

Edit: NRA may get a similar notice. I will be an unhappy camper if Wayne compromises with Joe Biden Biteme.

I'm not worried about Walmart bending to Obama's will nor do I think Walmart cares on my opinion of anti-gun legislation. The folks that run Walmart aren't stupid. Their bread is buttered in the heartland. They're despised in the liberal states. I don't see them trying to win points with the liberals, since they will hate Walmart no matter what, and I don't see them pissing off those in the red states by buddying up with Obama.

I will see if I can find a link, but walmart initially avoided the meeting and after being pressured responded with "we did not realize we HAD to attend" or similar.

So the administration is pressuring walmart directly.

Here we go

Wal-Mart initially turned down an invitation to participate in the talks but reversed its decision after it "underestimated the expectation to attend the meeting on Thursday in person," a spokesman said.

Might as well of said, "The King demands attendance!"

Ok, everybody, don’t call stores, call corporate. Here’s the number: (479)273-4000

That gets you the home office. Tell them you want to express an opinion and they’ll immediately transfer you to another line where you will talk to a real person who will take your comment and record the call.

They are getting calls going both ways right now. They said that they have made not decisions going forward except to hear what Biden’s group says and then weigh that with the comments from their customers.

So start calling. Have your family and friends call. Overwhelm their switchboard with calls and we may keep them on our side.

Wal-Mart has been contacted.  Here is the email that I got back from Lamar recently:

Thanks very much and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding the right to bear arms.

I’m a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. Congress should not pass laws that take away these rights from law abiding citizens and leave criminals to terrorize the streets. Good citizens don’t abuse guns – criminals do. I will continue to support legislative efforts to protect the Second Amendment rights of law abiding Americans, and oppose efforts to overturn the Second Amendment.

In two recent cases, the U.S. Supreme Court clearly held that the Second Amendment protects the right of individual Americans to keep and bear arms. In the 2008 case, D.C. v. Heller, the Supreme Court held that D.C.’s restrictive gun laws violated the constitutional rights of Americans. Two years later, in McDonald v. Chicago, the court struck down the city of Chicago’s handgun ban and held that, like the federal government, state and local governments must respect Second Amendment rights. I joined legal briefs in both cases in defense of this constitutional right and was pleased with the Supreme Court’s decisions.

I am grateful you took the time to let me know where you stand. I’ll be sure to keep your comments in mind as Second Amendment rights are discussed and debated in Washington and in Tennessee.

Sincerely,
Lamar

Here's the reply I received from Wally..

Thank you for your recent inquiry. Walmart, like the rest of the country, has been engaged in a national dialogue about the responsible sale and regulation of firearms. We have had ongoing conversations with the Administration, Congress, Mayor Bloomberg’s office, sportsmen groups, suppliers and others to listen and share our thoughts and experiences.

Over the years we have been very purposeful about striking the right balance between serving hunters and sportsmen and ensuring that we sell firearms responsibly. In fact, we became a charter member of Mayor Bloomberg’s coalition against illegal guns and adopted the 10-point code established by the Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership that goes beyond what the law requires. We have also spoken to the Vice President’s office to share our perspective and have sent an appropriate representative to participate in this discussion.

We take this issue very seriously and are committed staying engaged in this discussion as the Administration and Congress work toward a consensus on the right path forward.

Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care
