My first gun show...

I am going to try and go to what would be my first gun show this weekend. I have heard stories about them checking your firearm at the door, and I really don't have a problem with that. I plan on just unloading it before I go in and popping the mag in my pocket. I just don't want someone I don't know unloading my firearm. That's just me I guess. Anyone else ever have any incidents or is there any thing else I really need to know before I go. Sorry, just never been to one before and I don't know what to expect there since I will be carrying anyways....any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Late bloomer? No problem. They will ask you at the door if you have any loaded firearms. If you carry something to sell or trade they will check it to make sure it is unloaded. Sometimes they will put a nylon tie strap thru the slide or cylinder no biggie.--MP

They usually don't allow loaded magazines. Some won't allow you to enter with any loose ammo either.

Make sure chamber and mag are unloaded as some shows have a dude at front door

who may shoot you with it while trying to unload it. If you need any questions answered about guns or Ninja Tactics ask the first table inside or any table, they know everything.

cool...thanks for the info...I have a safe in my truck...I can just leave the mag and ammo in there. I just like keeping my gun with me though...even if it is unloaded in this case.

I've never done the unload thing. My carry weapon is my carry weapon. I just keep it concealed and go about my business.

I've always assumed the check at the door was for anything you were bringing in to sell or trade. If they start patting you down or wanding you for your carry weapon, I would stop going entirely.

+1 on that. I've been to a lot of gun shows and never been patted down. My bug is always there but stays concealed. If they start patting down I'll find somewhere else to go.--MP

I think that is a "unwritten rule" followed by lots of people.:ugh::ugh:
