Saiga 12!!!!

Got to take the newly finished Saiga 12 out for her first spin today! WOW, this is probably the most fun i have had shooting a gun! Grins all around. Have a little bruise in the shoulder, but the sheer enjoyment was worth it.

If you have the means (and can find one), I highly recommend picking one up!

I want one of these. Just dont know if I can justify the cost vs what I would use it for......I'm sure my fun side will win over the reasonable side sooner or later.

I love my Saiga , the only regret that I have is that I did not buy the other two that were available to be ordered back at Christmas but we all know that is a tough time of year to spend too much. I can hardly wait until I get my drums from MD Arms.

I love mine as well. And it was "made" by a company right here in Tennessee!

That is definitely top notch, I just don't have the dime to drop on all that goodness. The Halo rails look awesome. How are the sights on it? What brake is that?

The sights are the HALO sights, part of the rail system. The brake is a special thing that we managed to pick up a dozen of, which was an over run for a military contract for another shotgun type and is as far as I can tell an exclusive for us in the civilian market. It's based on the Vortex.

I picked up a Saiga 12 this weekend. Just ordered all the necessary parts to "Evil-ize" it. Oh it's going to be great. Haha. :P

Awesome bkelm. Take pics of the process. I'm on the lookout for a 410 now.

Will do. It's gonna look pretty much like nsnate's in the beginning. But it will get more evil when I get more evil money. :D

Definitely check out Tromix DIY trigger guard kit. $45, but very easy and you don't have to worry about cutting the grip nut hole and it has the safety stop built in. It also looks very good! You can get it from http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_37&products_id=233

Thanks. I just ordered the DIY Trigger Guard and the Tromix FCG from them. Getting the NATO length Kvar stock and Tapco SAW grip from Dinzag. I figure that'll at least get me started.

I didn't mention it, but I'm glad you got the Tromix trigger. I had to file done mine in order to get it to work. Not hard just frustrating. Also with the DIY trigger guard, you will have to make a channel on the bottom of the buttstock receiver block to allow it go over the back screw head. I learned that the hard way. Have fun!

Yeah I had read that the standard G2 FCG would need to be modified a bit to work in the 12. So I figured I'd get the Tromix FCG and not worry about it. I'm sure this one will be a learning experience just like my x39 conversion.

SAIGA 12!

Did her tonight. Wasn't too bad. The DIY trigger guard worked pretty great. I'm glad you could get the old cover plate off without dealing with the dang spot weld. Took me forever to get through it on my 7.62. Hardest part on this one was getting the stupid shepherd's crook in. I think next up on my Saiga list, I'm gonna do some upgrades to my 7.62, probably get a 10 rd mag for the 12, and possible a muzzle device for the 12. Might have to look into an optics rail and some optics. One thing I noticed with these is to get a good site picture, I have to crane my neck down pretty good or raise the stock up on my shoulder to the point where it starts to throb after a bit of shooting. Oh well. Gotta feed the Saiga addiction.

is that basicly a 12 gauge ak47? Sound like a fun but painful idea.

Yeah its a semi-auto 12ga shotgun based on the AK platform.

Oh Man! Looks like I created a monster!!! Glad that old worn- out bird gun is working out well for you! Keep the pictures coming and I may have to go find myself another one. :screwy:

Hardest part on this one was getting the stupid shepherd's crook in.

The first thing I do with any AK I buy is take out the Shepherd's Crook and replace it with two hairpin clips.

They work better than the Shepherd's Crook (more bearing surface) and are easier to take in and out (tweezers).

Hillman .047 X 19/32 Hairpin Clips purchased at Lowes.

...and four of them cost $.76

Yeah I only used the crook because it came with the FCG. I have some 3/16" hitch pins that I may see how they do.
