While considered a "lesser tier" manufacturer at least after the '70's, overall Charter revolvers have been adequate.
 
My take is that except for some problem years under the "Charco" or "Charter 2000" labelings, they are certainly at least on a par with Taurus and Rossi.
 
Which is to say, I'd buy one at the right price if I needed a model they offered.
 
Actually, I have an old Undercover from the 60's, was maybe the first light allow revolver made in the US. No idea how much was run through it before I got it, but I shot a couple hundred through it, including some .38+p (not recommended on the old ones), all fine. It lives at my mom's last few years now, though:

I had one of the org. 44 bulldogs. Wish I still had it. Sort of off the subject, but seems like a bulldog was what John Lenin's killer used.

 nope,it was the Son of Sam killer that used a Charter Arms .44 Spl.
