I would drive by, but do not confront.   You are looking to see if he seems to be home --- things like 5 newspapers in the yard, or no car there every time you look, etc.

If he seems to be home and in good health, confront with a buddy in the car or maybe even call the police.

Continue to call and mail.  It is proof of your attempts to contact him.

he could be in the hospital, or something, or he could be shady and have already sold your gun.  But most likely, he just got behind in his work or something and is embarrassed about it.   Its dumb to hide from a screwup, but some folks do it anyway.

I'll give him today to either answer my phone calls/texts or call me back. If I don't hear back from him today I'll probably contact the local police up there and see if they'll escort me to get my property back. It is a good thing I had him give me a received receipt. I did my research on him too and there have been good reviews on here and other forums of his work. So far it just seems his communication is horrible.

This happened in my world of steel guitar a few years back. Guy that did really good work in Indiana started doing really shoddy work. He was running behind, making excuses; then he stopped taking messages, wouldn't return anyone's calls. He had a bunch of orders to fulfill, and the guys on the steel forum were really ragging about him. Finally, one guy drove to Indiana from here to see what the heck was going on.

He was dead.
