Shot my very first IDPA match in Manchester today!

and it was AWESOME!!!  I shot my completely stock S&W M&P 40 full size and had zero malfs. There were plenty of misplaced shots, but zero malfs.  :surrender:

I brought 5 mags and had them prepped for each round, but never needed more than 3.  Everyone was really friendly and put up with my stupid questions and my slow times.  The only holster I had was a serpa, and I will be replacing it SOON!  I know it cost me a good amount of time being super careful with that tab.  It really pointed out some flaws in my carry philosophy shooting like that.  Oh, and I am TERRIBLE shooting from prone!  BLECH!!

I came in a solid 27th of 29 competitors!  :yuck:

Anyways, I had a great time and I can't wait to do it again.

And I think there's a long-slide 9mm (probably XD or M&P Pro) in my future.  :x:

sounds like a good time....i've shot one zombie match in Dickson. When I have more free time I definitely wouldn't mind shooting matches on a regular basis.

I see you're in Smyrna. I'm just down the road in La Vergne. I'm curious, how long did it take to drive out there?

I miss shooting IDPA and miss the friends I made there too, but I don't miss the 2 hour drive to Dickson.

I rode with some buddies so I didn't really pay attention to the time, but I would say it was just 35-45 minutes or so. First Sunday of every month. See you there!

Yea, comptacs are awesome!

Bill and Robin Dukemineer own Master-Tac they make really good quality holsters and mag carriers and they also shoot at Manchester.

I've got most all the holsters and some's pretty good and some's junk but the first time I tried one of Master-Tac's revolver holsters it took a .10 of a sec.off my draw. Now a .10 of a sec. aint much but for 12 stages thats 12 draws and that comes to 1.20 sec's and I've won DC by just .90 of a sec.

Rickey,

There was only one other competitor in that division.  The way of all the talk with ban on weapons, you might actually get a match bump in the revolver division.

A 1/10 of a sec is a 1/10 of a sec whether there was 2 shooters or 200 what's that got to do with the quality of a holster? My comment about winning by .90 was showing a new shooter how much such a small amount of time can make in a match with a good holster.   Not that it matters but there was 5 SSR shooters 1M, 3 EX and 1SS in the match I was referring to.

Sounds like you did great. I just watched the first one that I went to and was ready to start right then. I hope to try the one next month in Oak Ridge if I can get all the gear that I need. I was still trying to get mags for my pistol and now ammo is hard to find. This current craze has unfortunatley put my IDPA shooting on hold for now. But I will be out there eventually. :pleased:
