Where did it say Fobus? It appears to me this video is to show why one shouldn't carry a kydex or OWB.I never saw the words Fobus

This is why you don't use a kydex holster, a paddle holster, or carry OWB. Commenting is turned off because I'm tired of moderating bickering that misses the point so people can press an agenda

It didn't say Fobus, just happened to be a Fobus in the video. They are quite thin. I don't believe my Comp-Tacs would snap like that.

Maybe I just got a bad one or one made on Monday, but the Forbus paddle I bought for my J-frame was so tight I couldn't take it out of the holster without using both hands. I worked on it some with a dremel tool and helped it a little but couldn't trust it with my life. Put back in package and threw in gun parts drawer. I really didn't expect much for 20 bucks but I did expect to be able to get the gun out of it.---MP

np with mine for a g19. i dont use paddle although i was thinking of buying the 7 dollar paddle attachment since i have the one you can twist around and its on a screw. it does appear to be a fobus one in the video though.

I have a Fobus holster and have had no problems. I feel

it exceeds the $19+ dollars I paid for it. It's scratched up,

and makes a great "beater" holster.

I even bought a double mag paddle as well a year ago.

Mainly use them while on the range.

Have been thinking about a Blackhawk CQC Serpa(?) holster

after seeing all the picts posted from that CIS class. Seems

likw every time I get enough money it goes somewhere else! :leaving:

I picked up a Blackhawk Serpas before the Stoner for my J-frame and liked it very much. But it prints a little to much for summer carry so I'll save mine for cooler weather and a sweat shirt will cover just fine.---MP

Fobus holsters are, with apologies to those who own them, garbage. The failure in the design is the rivets. Were it not for the rivets being easy to rip through the plastic and therefore easy to tear the holster off of the wearer's person, the holster would actually be a good bargain.

Uncle Mikes and Blade Tech both make injection molded holsters of substantially better quality than the Fobus for not much more money. The Blackhawk SERPA is even better but carries a bit more of a price tag.

Stepping up to quality Kydex (Comp-Tac, G-Code, Blade Tech, etc.) gains you quite a bit more structural integrity while reducing the "footprint" of the holster when you're trying to conceal it. That's the only reason I do not include the SERPA in this group.

You do get what you pay for. :leaving:

I disagree... for the money it's a decent holster. It is doing exactly what a

$20 dollar holster should do. Retain the firearm, and be able to remove the firearm. It's not designed to resist a "grab" or be used in "battle" type environments. They are best suited as "beaters" and range holsters. Which I feel they work best for.

If your carrying concealed I don't see where someone is going to try and jerk the holster part off of you from behind.

Not to mention these things are cheap enough to run a couple of drywall screws threw the paddle part and into a stud for placing it in your closet or what have you. It's like anything... what do you plan to use it for.

I completely agree with you Tungsten... you do get what you pay for.

I don't expect a Kia to handle like a Mercedes, nor would I use a ratchet

for a hammer... but I have in a pinch. :P

Not everyone can afford the better grades of holsters. But they are better

than the "Mexican" carry option. (Some may argue not by much. LOL)

Can't say that I have read very many accounts of people being disarmed

while wearing Fobus holsters. (Though I accept I could very well be wrong.)

Are there better holsters? Certainly. No question about it.

Are Fobus holsters junk or garbage? I'm hesitant to say they are.

I've had one for over five years. Still retains the firearm and it's never been "jerked" from my side. If it broke today... I still couldn't dog cuss it

cause I feel i have gotten my $20 bucks of use from it and then some.

(IMHO)

I agree with you there.

Let me amend my previous statement since you definitely make a strong case for the Fobus as a "gun holder" both on your person at the range and in the house screwed to a wall, bed stand, etc.

As a concealed carry holster, it's my opinion that you can (and should) do much better than choosing a Fobus. You have already invested a few hundred dollars into a firearm and a few hundred into obtaining your handgun carry permit. It makes no sense to suddenly skimp on a carry holster.

If you're not carrying with it, then the Fobus is a good choice.

I had the same problem only I was at the store trying it out. Once I had my glock in the holster it I couldn't get it back out. HAHA! I didn't waste my money.

Do you really feel worried that somebody will grab your gun and break your holster off, if you're carrying CONCEALED? If so, perhaps you're not actually concealing it.

I've never had anybody come up and try to yank my cell phone from my hip, and with a shirt hanging over my gun, it looks about the same.

No problems with my fobus. Actually it is one of the most comfortable paddles I have ever owned. It takes a few times to get used to removing your piece from the holster (quick snap). That being said it aint going to fall out either. Not a real good choice as a carry holster but if you dont carry on a daily basis where you have multiple time gun removal this is a great holster IMO

I am a firm believer now that every holster serves it's own purpose. It's up to you to decide how the purpose of said holster suites your needs and carry styles. When I first started into handguns, I thought I would only need one holster per gun. Now that I have bought several for a couple guns, I use them all for different purposes and occasions....and yes, my wife thinks I'm dumb for having more than one. I just remind her of all those pocket books stuffed in the top of her closet :D......;)

Same here! I carry a Fobus Roto everyday. Its the only holster that works well for me because it rotates without having to remove screws. When it gets in my way I can twist it on a whim and I'm comfortable again!

Its never broken! Nobody is going to come up behind me and know some magical hand movements to break it off! If someone wanted to remove a holstered gun all is needed is to grab it and pull it out of the holster! ;)

The biggest problem I have with the fobus is that on the back side where it touches your body, at the very top, there's a piece of metal that goes across between the two rivets. They bend up and over a couple bumps. This part seems to be sharp or irritating, no matter what I do. I've tried sanding it to make it smoother, and it's not helping. I wish I could remove the rivets and send it back to them and get them to put rivets back in, without the strip of metal between them.

When I called them to tell them about the problem, they said I was the only person that had ever complained about it.

You could try mole skin, that might work.
