Well...I went the another direction...

After a lot of thinking and praying I decided against a hand gun.  Everytime I went to look at them, which was many, it just didn't feel right.  Something kept me from following through with it.  I knew what I wanted, that wasn't it.

So I took a few days and did a self assesment, what could I use that money for?  I have no bugout gear...I have no 7-14 day backup (not just zombies, remember the freezing rain storm mid 90's?)...I have no survival skills...I don't have the tools neccesary to really take care of my family...I figure I can take that money and invest it in more long term skills.

Long story short, I purchased a hunting rifle instead.  A utilitarian model, not a show gun.  It isn't wood, it isn't shiney, it has a cheap scope, the reviews are good enough for me...8" groups at 500 yards...plenty accurate for me...seems like most deer kills are within 100 yards.

Remington Model 770 .308 Bolt action with cheap scope.  I found it at Dunham's in Bowling Green KY tagged for $329.99...6% taxes KY vs 9.25% TN...and no charge for the B/G Check...then it rang up at the register for $305.00...

I know Deer season is ending...but this way it will give me more time to prepare i.e. hunters safety coarse, gear, build a tree stand maybe.

OH...BTW...Dunham's had 5 cases of 7.62x54 in 440 coun cans for $99.99 last night...I almost picked one up but I don't shoot my 91/30 enough to justify.
