Lets talk short barrel AR upper receivers...

It appears that there are some good SBR upper kits out there that include quality, chromed, properly staked bolt carrier groups and do so at a price point that is a little cheaper than buying each part individually.

LMT has a really nice 10.5" upper that I keep looking at but as has been noted, LMT stuff doesn't come cheap. As has also been noted, you get what you pay for with LMT.

What other completed SBR uppers should I be looking at? Or if you were going to roll your own, what would the parts list look like?

Chrome lined barrel, magnetic particle tested, 11.5 or better length or with a pigtail gas tube for shorter.

Do they make pigtail gas tubes for pistol-length gas systems? I'm considering a 7.3" or 7.5" upper with a carbine length 4-rail and a Noveske Brake (maybe a suppressor later on).

I'm running a pigtail gastube on this FA creature and haven't had any FTF or FTE problems yet.

j&t has a 10.5". 1 in 9 twist only. Chrome lining option. Heavy or light. Can totally flattop it. I've got one doublestar lower and 2 doublestar uppers. Good stuff, imo. They also have an 11.5 too.

I'd kinda like a 1 in 7 or a 1 in 8 on a short barrel. The 75gr-77gr stuff seems like a no brainer out of something this short.

For a match grade long range shooter, LMT makes sense. On basically a plinker, I dunno how much sense paying an LMT premium makes.
