Wow, how dumb you gotta be to not hear that ringing bell? And here we think people are getting dumber. Nope. People have always been self absorbed idiots. It's a wonder they didn't run some of them down!

It aint about being dumb. He could be like me and be deaf as a post.

Neat video. Good odds more folks were deaf back then, combining occupational industrial noise exposure on one hand, with more people recovering from high-fever diseases "the hard way" on the other.

Hard to say, though. I recall in the 1960's people bemoaning that our vietnam era soldiers didn't have good enough hearing to respond to little jungle noises because their ears had been damaged by too much loud rock'n'roll. It couldn't have had anything to do with the copious gunfire without hearing protection. :) and nowadays people bemoan kids voluntarily frying their ears with boomboxes, too-loud earbuds, and those infernal thousands-of-watt rap-mobiles. :)

How did that era of vehicles handle in ice and snow? Maybe it is a collection of several days footage, but some shots look pretty icy/snowy roads. The first shot doesn't look like any chains on the tires. Had tire chains been invented then? Would guess yes, but haven't a clue. There doesn't seem much slipping and sliding going on in the video.

That was awesome. I had no idea footage like that even existed. It was cool seeing the crazy traffic and hustle-bustle of the people. Chief looks like one heck of a driver on top of that

I see the problem of people not moving out of the way for emergency vehicles has been around forever. Atleast they didn't have audio of the driver's comments..lol I know I have some funny narrated videos in my car.

Reminiscent of any random cab ride in Nuevo Laredo or Metamoros. :) Or maybe even in today's NYC, never been to NYC.
