Thank you for posting, I read this letter yesterday, and due to the problems with this site, I didn't post.  OUTSTANDING LETTER!  For the ones like me who click on these links 50% of the time, here is the letter Vontar was referring too:

 

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

 

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government's right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma'am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I sure did my share of letter writing when I was in and made sure to let them know I was currently serving.

The amendments are not a shopping list of which and choice what you want.

 

Only 1 has ever been repealed and it was correcting a mistake.  Prohibition against alcohol actually increased sales and crime at the expense of loss of tax revenue to Uncle Sam.

First off, thanks to all of our veterans for protecting our freedoms. Civilians can never thank you guys and gals enough.

It will be interesting to see how long it would take the lawsuits against guns to make it to the Supreme Court. Will Obama have his new judges on the court by then?

If the 2nd Amendment doesn't protect our right to weapons made after 1776, the 1st doesn't protect any forms of communication invented since 1776, either.

I have not thought about that but that is an awesome way to put it!  They keep saying "these (mighty scary) assault rifles were not available back when the Constitution was written"...

not only were they not available back then, Even George Washington said the following which I believe covers them.

 

 

• A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies.

I do also. But until it reaches the SCOTUS and is ruled on the laws can wreak havoc on the sale and transfer of firearms. That could be timed in years.
