All:

Our July meeting will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Range USA, 2770 Whitten Road, Bartlett (just off Summer Avenue).

Please plan to attend and invite your friends, your family, your significant other, your shooting buddies, and anyone else you can think of. One does not have to be an NRA member to attend and participate.

We now have pre-event tickets and banquet tickets available. And you will love the door prizes.

-David

Crimson:

Great question. I'm going to cut and paste the answer from a previous thread from April, but take the opportunity to update it with some timely info.

There are basically four things that every volunteer can do in order to help pull off a successful banquet:

-sell tickets to the event

-sell sponsorships to the NRA Foundation

-sell "pre-event" tickets, ie, tickets for a chance at a game of skill, the winner of which wins an item given to them before the event (hence "pre-event"). We are selling 500 "pre-event" tickets on the 2008 Gun of the Year, the Weatherby over/under 12 gauge. These are $10 each, so PM me if you want to buy one (or two, or three).

-obtain donations. These items are then placed in the silent or live auction to raise funds. For example, think of an ice chest filled with shotgun shells. Friends or an area business could donate these to you, and you'll bring them to the meeting and turn them in as donations. The dove hunters at the banquet will readily bid on this.

So, hope that answers your question. Our Memphis banquet will be on October 23rd, so we're getting into full swing. Please join us.

Ahh, thanks for the info! Are the donations a tax write-off? I'm always looking for fun ways to spend the extra my company makes, so an ice chest full of shotgun shells, etc. would be cool if I can write it off.

You're welcome.

Since the NRA Foundation is a 501©3 organization, donations are tax deductible. There are standard, pre-printed forms to take care of the paperwork.

Another great question, and I hope you can make it.

I'll probably be in Uncle Sam's BBQ sometime just after 6 to have dinner, so if you come in early, please join me. PM if you want.

Thanks again.

All:

We're pleased to announce that Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) will be joining us at the start of this meeting to share her insights on the Supreme Court ruling on the D.C. gun ban. She is a true supporter of the Second Amendment, and I think you'll enjoy her comments.

Please plan on joining us Tuesday night at 7 pm.

Thanks.
