The Sad Truth About The <acronym title='National Rifle Association'>NRA</acronym>'s Proposal

It makes a lot of good points though.

He does not, clearly, understand that having armed citizens in all those places is the answer, rather than hired guards at every business and location.   As a leftist, he can only think of a communist/police state type answer: the citizens unarmed, the government goons armed to the teeth.

But he has several very valid key notes in there.   The games and movies ARE the same as the guns: taking them away from normal people because of a few nuts is not the answer and wayne let us all down on that.

It is also true that we do not have the police we need to handle even the drug, gang, and other problems.  If we take even 10% of our officers to man the schools, we either need more taxes to pay for more officers, or we have to stretch a thin police force even thiner.  Again, he cannot grok the idea of armed and trained teachers (and wayne knew this) so the answer has to be a paid professional.

Then there is the epic fail:   trying to compare legal guns with illegal drugs.  We don't have a 32nd ammendment that says you have the right to buy, sell, make, and ingest mind altering chemistry.   So there is no rational connection to saying that because we cannot keep such things eliminated we should legalize them.   One could argue for the legalization of drugs, but THIS argument is flawed from the start and not the way to prove that point.

And then she invalidates her entire piece by calling ARs high caliber (whatever the heck THAT means) --- just another liberal that does not even understand what she is even talking about.   Caliber = diameter, so apparently .22 is one of the largest diameter bullets out there, using her mishmash of terminology?!

Again, we see the phrase 'gun violence'.  Which is the problem they want to solve, guns or violence?  If you want to reduce violence, gun control does not work.  Never has.  If you want disarm the people, then gun control is exactly what they want.  But the two goals are counter-productive.  More guns in private hands leads to less violent crime.   Fewer guns in private hands leads to more violent crime.

I don't know which side has the worst idea. Posting signs and creating gun free zones don't work. :ugh: You would have thought the geniuses running this country would have figured this out. So now they want to banned guns and make most of us criminals unless we do as they say. Mr. LaPierre, believes the only way to protect our kids at school is to have armed guards at every school. Does anyone really want to send their kid to a school believing there has to be an armed guard there to protect them? :squint:

Has our nation lost all common sense?
