Finally got a Buck!

Shot this guy on Fort Campbell last Saturday.  He weighed in at 137lbs field dressed.

No, it is the 5th whitetail buck I have shot.  Funny thing is, I shot an elk before I ever shot my first deer!

I have a mossberg 835 12 gauge with a fully rifled barrel for sabot slugs.  I shoot Federal Fusion sabots and they group right around 1 1/2" groups at a hundred yards if I do my part.  I really like the gun but still find myselt wanting for one of the Savage bolt action shotguns.

 

I shot a friend's Savage 20g bolt gun and it was cutting paper at 100 yds!  I find it too hard to spend $500 though for a weapon when I already have a suitable slug gun.  Maybe after I hit the powerball?
