Seriously though, I did just backorder a 10 pack from Brownells with free shipping (promo DSR).  I don't know how long it will take to fill, but I know Magpul has cut production to Black only to catch up

Since we are talking about pmags.

Why are the valued and selling faster than regular metal GI mags?

Are the better? If so how so?

Magpul basically took the milspec mags and improved on the design.  They are much more durable than the GI spec mags due to their polymer body, so they don't dent or bend as easily.  They have a textured surface that makes them easier to handle.  They have a nice dust cover that protects the feed lips and keep your ammo clean.  One model has a clear window so you can see how many rounds are in it.  They are produced in different colors for those who want them. All of this for the same price as a milspec mag. They are all I use now.

Those with more knowledge, how much should I be paying per Pmag? I know they "were" $20. See a bunch at $40 ea. Too high? Just right?

I like them because my wife drives a Suburban and if I leave my magazines scattered about the driveway; she won’t damage them when she runs over them.

Too high for me out of principal. I would pay $20 each and that's it...also depends on how bad you "need" them.

Thanks Sandman. Sorry if this was a thread hijack.

Just after Thanksgiving I bought 6 for $11 a piece wish I had bought more at that price.

no worries, it was a joke anyhow.  I paid $12.50 online, $14.50 in store.  I know some stores charge up to $20, but I think that's still too high.  I got the 10 pack backordered for $125, that's about as cheap as it gets.

if you really need them and don't have any, a one time purchase of a few for $30-$40 is not a bad thing... everyone else here who says that's too high already has plenty. i think they will come back, and go down, but i wouldn't pass up a chance to have at least 4 (1 in the gun, 3 in the vest) right now

I would guess Magpul is on Christmas/New Year shut down right now. They will come back and I’m sure fire up full output.

How soon do you guys think a hi-cap mag ban could pass?

I would bet legitimate big dealers will get these in, Midway, Brownells, etc.

If I were a betting man I'd say August-Oct before they would be actually illegal to buy. But that's still a stretch, not sure they can even get that passed.

And that's exactly why I went ahead and backordered mags.  I have a very bad feeling a high-cap mag ban is in our future.

I have a better feeling today than I have since the shooting. There are no fewer gun owners today than last month. There are more. Bans of any kind aren't a sane solution. Besides, the Pubs in the house will vote NO just to piss off Obama.

The House Pubs do not have some overwhelming majority.  It would take maybe 17 or 18 of them to vote for a ban for it to pass?

Magpul sponsored numerous 3gun matches in 2012.  You usually got one or two PMAGs free at each match just for showing up.  Who'd thought they'd become such a commodity?
