IWB carry question...

So...carrying IWB seems to be the best way to conceal but also appears to be the most uncomfortable.  I was at GnL a couple of weeks ago and asked one of the staff about this IWB setup.  Quite honestly, it looked really awkward and uncomfortable...

 

Let's say you have a 38" waist...so you wear 38" pants...you slide any weapon between you and the waistband...isn't that going to effectively turn your 38" waist into a ~40" waist?

I reached a good compromise imo, OWB, but inside the belt.  It's far more comfortable for me.

Yep. I carried IWB for a long time until I realized that no one is going to notice me carrying, and if they did I guess I didn't care. The only time I IWB carry now is if I'm going somewhere that I don't want people to notice. OWB is where it's at for everyday stuff.

Get a good quality gun belt and holster and you'll never carry IWB again.

I've been carrying IWB for so long now that I just don't even notice anymore. I size my pants accordingly, so when I'm not carrying I just end up cinching my belt a couple notches tighter to make up the difference.

 

As far as comfort goes, the right holster paired with a strong belt purpose-built for carry makes all the the heaviest, bulkiest of handguns unnoticeable to me when I carry.

I honestly do not find it at all uncomfortable. I use the Crossbreed supertuck at about the 4-5 o'clock position, and like others have said, I have grown so accustomed to it, I sometimes forget its there. I rotate all of my P series Sigs through my carry rotation just so as to not hurt the other Sigs feelings. So large / mid size alloy (heavy) guns. Oh before I forget, you do have to have one pant size larger though to accomodate the 1" or so waist size increase.  I am self conscious about OWB wearing even with a jacket on, but not with a IWB, I shouldn't be, but I am. I like to fly under the radar the best I can.

I don't find that I've needed to increase my pants size to carry IWB. I usually carry a pretty thin LC9 in a Theis Holster though... I forget it's there most of the time. Lately I've purchased a Glock 26 and tried carrying it in a DeSantis Intruder IWB holster, and while I can still wear it in the same pants, it's not as comfortable as the LC9/Theis Holster. I too have been playing with OWB holsters and I prefer it that way. I believe with the Glocks... it's the only way to travel. Even with my little .38 spl S&W j-frame. Haven't found a IWB holster I like for it yet... but there are plenty of pancake styles that disappear under a t-shirt.

I don't find it uncomfortable either. I have a good holster and that makes a big difference. But I don't always carry IWB. It depends on the pants I'm wearing.

I have about 15 lbs to lose before I can IWB carry in my current jeans.  And i refuse to buy larger ones.

 

I have already started my diet and exercise program.
