Sights for IDPA

I was wondering if you guys had so input on sights for IDPA style shooting? I currently have Mepro night sights on my Glock and I was thinking of going to a fiber style front sight like the HiVis. Any thoughts or suggestions? What about a rear ghost ring? Just trying to hit the "zeros".

I have Meps on my carry Glock 23, on my gamer 34 I've got the Warren Tactical Sevigny Competition with fiber. It's a good setup but I'd skip the fiber next time, and I may just switch to a plain front it's only like $35 to swap it out.

Oh and Ghost Rings are a no-go for IDPA

I always liked plain black sights with the front being as narrow as possible.The front on all my 1911s were .090 wide I found that to be about optimal.I never liked night sights as the sunlight would reflect off the glass vials and I found the fiber optics to be distracting.

I've used standard bar and dot Sig sights on my 228, and Hi Viz sights on my Browning. The Hi Viz are easier for me to get on target.

Fiber optic front, plain black rear on mine

Sevigny Competition. Pick all-black or fiber front, but either way they're as good as the popular Dawson/Heinie combination's sight picture. And cost a lot less.

The Warren - Sevigny sights are becoming pretty popular the sight picture is crisp and they are a bargain compared to some of the options.

Be warned the rear sight is a tight fit in the slide, I had to get pretty aggressive to get it in. If I'd been smart I probably would have taken a bit off it with a fine file first.

Whatever you get, some combination of wide rear/narrow front will speed up front sight acquisition. Many fine shooters choose plain black sights over triitium or fiber optics.

I think Price G uses a fiber front sight on his Glock. He said it really improved his shooting when he started using it. Maybe ask him what he thinks?

Hey, I finally got the Sevigny sights for my Glock. Black rear and fiber front. I love it! You guys were correct, much easier for quick sight alignment. Now my next question, red or green? I have the red in now.

I've got the green, I don't think there is a "right" answer.

I like the red, for now. Not sure which color will be brightest in daylight or overcast. I guess trial and error. any tips on install or changing rods? I followed the instructions on the package, melt one end of rod, pull through sight until flush or tight, clip muzzle end to 1/16", melt to meet sight. make sure rod is not loose in sight as that will result in damage quickly. any tips for the brightest results?

I heat the tip of a small screwdriver and use the flat pressed against the rod to create a bit of a mushroom on the end of the rod.

Try each color and how much you melt on the ends for dot size. Our club used more green/green like colors then red so I used red. The green seemed brighter to me. I made dot smaller pretty quick it would bloom on bright days and I lost the edges of front sight on long or tighter shots.
