So pretty much every semi-auto rifle would be banned.

Did I miss the M1 Garand?

Well that's one rifle we can keep. :)

What is a Hi-Point 20 Carbine? I have a HiPoint carbine but it has a 10 round magazine. Does the 20 mean they have a 20 round mag?

That ban will never pass legislation.

I'm willing to bet the expression on his face right now backs it up. :) This AIN'T about black rifles, folks. It's about every competent defensive weapon in existence.
If they get this, the Second Amendment is history. It's all about eliminating ALL weapons. So much for that law abiding thing, eh?
I don't think there will be a lot of law abiding gun owners abiding to these stinking pinko commie laws.

I assume this is much worse than CA's. You can own AR-15's in CA, albeit heavily modified. This list bans them completely.

I don't see this passing. Assuming it did, I don't see many people who just gave a right arm and a kidney for an AR happily handing it over.

A question for the LEO among us: Let's assume this passes next month. You have been ordered to drive around your patrol area and try to collect these arms from your friends and neighbors. What are you gonna do?

Will never get to that point.

The states will tell the feds where to stick their ban in quick order.

It won’t pass but even if it did they are grandfathered; there will NEVER be cops driving around collecting guns.

It would be military personel (wont happen either way)

I think it's time to start using their style tactics ourselves against them. Pro-gun writters should start throwing bolt action and lever action rifles onto the list whether that is what is proposed or not. It would be bad for our blood pressure to read it, but we NEED to get the "bolt-action hunters" that don't care about AWB fired up. Would that be dishonest? No, I don't think so because those will be next!

Sort of grandfathered. They will be moved to NFA status (registered). You will not be able to carry those weapons across a state line without prior approval. When you die, the gun goes to the government. From what I've read, it will include semi-auto pistols as well... anything that is capable of holding a "high capacity" magazine.

Real Hitler stuff.

I make the point all the time, no matter who I am talking to that I don’t hunt and I don’t kill animals for sport; that shouldn’t be a requirement for my families protection.

But I doubt many hunters are standing on the side lines thinking this will not impact them. I would much rather face a shooter with an AK than a shooter with a scoped Remington 700.

The only “Military” weapon Charles Whitman had was an M1 Carbine, but I would bet his scoped Remington 700 “hunting rifle” did much more damage than the M1.

Unless someone declares Federal Martial Law how are you going to get around Posse Comitatus?

Going on what you're saying, it's much scarier not seeing a shooter but knowing rounds are still flying in.

I’m saying that if you had a shooter in position with a bolt action 308 with a high power scope it is probable that every shot would be a kill. Yes, he would be much scarier than a nut case with an AR or AK that I could engage and kill.

The Dems are going to do their best to divide gun owners. They will do their best to make the hunters feel safe. It's up to us to hang together, and make sure it's known that they are the enemy of all gun owners.
