I really wish that people wouldnt just compare homicide statistics.  If you look at total violent crime the UK is the worst in Europe and one of the worst in the world.  Way worse than the U.S. in total violent crime.  In return for their lower chance of being killed.  Lets compare the 2010 study as that is one of the most recent.  The US had 4.2 homicides per 100,000 the UK had 1.2    Now lets compare violent crime  UK  2,034 per 100,000 to the US wich is at 466 for the same time period. The UK also has a slightly higher sexual assault rate than the US and a higher rate of home invasions.    Now i'm not sure about anyone else but i will gladly trade a slightly higher murder rate for a significantly lower rate of violent crime.

 Even if they would compare homicides as a whole the numbers would be more inline . They always say GUN MURDERS and not murders. The fact that you have the guns banned is of course going to drop the number of gun crimes . But that just mens the evil people will find other tools to do the job with .

 

 People don't invade a home when they think they might get shot. 

 

 Not sure but how many of our murders are gang and drug related ? The last numbers I saw a baseball bat was top of the list for weapon used in violent crimes here . I will have to recheck that . I have looked at so much this week .

last estimates i saw for gang and drug related murders were in the 60-70 percent range but i have seen statistics all over the map some as low as 30.  That one is a hard stat to nail down because of reporting.  Only confirmed gang/drug related homicides ever get reported so there are a lot of likely gang.drug related homicides that are unsolved or not necessarily reported as gang related/drug related

Current support for stricter gun laws is the highest Gallup has measured since January 2004, but still not nearly as high as it was in the 1990s."
