local petitions?

You've pinpointed a major problem ... most people would prefer not to engage - it's hard work.  Most folks I know would rather just stick an NRA sticker in their truck's window & say they've done their part.  What you're advocating is right on ... we need to stop delegating & start DOING.

I think it would be a good idea for local gun shops across the state to start petitions to give to our Reps as well.

We have to be certain to be heard.  I mentioned it to 2 shops today but neither seemed to keen on it.

Both federal and state reps need to see locally created and signed petitions. They're much more effective than the online ones, imho. Perhaps we, as a group, should create the petitions. Bring them to local gun shops and, if any won't take them for customers to sign, post their names here. Let TGO members decide whether they want to do business with those that won't support the petitions. Sometimes emails and calls aren't enough to wake up the members of congress, they need visual aids.

Once the fog of what will happen sinks in, gun retailers, wholesellers, and manufacturers will (should) ban togeather, its their business fortunes at state and livelihood. I assume they believe they will ride the wave, and if a AWB happens like 20 years ago, all will be well from their business perspective, not ideal, but tolerable. These businesses are really focused on the "now" and how to cash in. The academics of long term vision, likely has not kicked in until clear legislation is made or at least clears many committees.
