remington 700 adl to bdl conversion

Recommended Posts

hey guys i need some advise on bedding a stock. i bought a remington 700 adl,26 inch heavy barrel. i am replacing the cheap mossy oak camo stock with a bell and carlson bdl m40 stock. they say bedding is not necessary. i just wondered if thats true or will bedding improve long range accuarcy. i also plan to replace the trigger with the remington x-mark pro trigger and free float the barrel. trying to put a rifle together that will be accurate for 500 to 700 yards. any other tips or advise would be appreciated.

My personal opinion is always to start without doing any work to the stock.  Who knows, it may shoot great without doing a thing.  Only after I shoot it "as is" would I consider doing anything else.  I would also check for barrel float before going as far as bedding.  Bedding for me is after I have tried a few easy things first.  It may come to having to bed it, but I don't think it's necessary to start there.

I am sure there are others who may say bed it from the start.
