Brownells gray .223 mags?

How do Brownells' gray 30-rd AR-15 mags with CS springs differ from USGI mags?  I didn't see anything in particular on their site that told.  Are they the same thing, just not issued to the armed forces?

They went in a 400,000 order in 2006 to the army. Now they have another contract. They are USGI mags.

they are contract mag suppliers. the difference is the brown follower is for goverment use only, the ones you buy have green.

There are some tan follower mags out there in the "civilian" world. I got some from a gun show and they wouldn't work in 2 of my guns. Brownell's replaced them with green follower mags and they worked fine.

I have the mags with either the SS or CS springs and can't tell any difference in function.

 

Run them in all of my ARs to include the ones I use in 3Gun matches.  I do replace the follower (green or tan) with the MAGPUL follower.

 

In thousands upon thousands of rounds - - - Never, Ever a jam or misfeed.

 

I trust them enough to give them to my police officer son for his patrol rifle.

They are good, but I still prefer Troy Mags over anything else
