Thin 9mm

Looking at picking up a small thin 9mm. I think I am down to the Beretta Nano or the M&P Shield. What are your thoughts? Am I missing any (not interested in PF-9).

Kahr CM/PM 9. Excellent gun. The CM is the "economy" version of the PM.

I have the kahr cw9 and really like it. Most of kahr 9mm are very thin, and there are several models to pick from.

Keltec as well as Ruger's LC-9 are pretty thin.

nano trigger is poorish & does not clean up with use.  Shield is a much, much better pistol.   I have the sig 938 now and its a keeper, but if not that, shield would be my #2 pick.

Kimber solo carry. Light, thin (0.995 inches) and extreamly accurate. Mine has over 300 rounds down the pipe with no issues ever.

The Walther PPS is very reliable, accurate, and highly concealable. The trigger is also very smooth,and it's a striker fired handgun which I prefer. Walther has made small handguns for many years and I think they produce a high quality product.

 

Also, you should check out a Ruger LC9. It's a slim gun, about the size of Walther PPS, and less expensive. It's a double action, hammer fired handgun with a longer trigger pull.

 

I have both and would recommend the Walther PPS if you have the funds. They're going for about $550 to $600 on Gunbroker (new). I noticed that CDNN was recently selling the LC9's for about $320.

+1 to the Kahr CM9 or PM9.  The only thing I don't like about mine is the long trigger (I'm used to glocks and 1911s) and long reset. Other than that, it's a fantastic gun and the size and weight are great.

I second the Walther PPS.  I have owned one for a couple of years and it's one of the finest handguns I have ever owned.  It also has the option of 6, 7, or 8 round magazines, tritium sights, and it has an accessory rail if you choose to add a small laser to the platform.

Sig P6 or P225, thin yes, but not on the light side.

I just measured my wife's LC-9. The slide and frame measure .89". Going to be hard finding a 9mm that is narrower than that for the price. A 1911's slide is less than an inch as well.

My vote would be the M&P Shield.   It handles and shoots nicely.  Very controllable, has a decent trigger and short reset.  I much prefer it over the LC9's long trigger pull.

The LC-9 does have a looooooonnnnnnggggggg trigger pull.

I switched to the Beretta Nano after having a Ruger LC9....the LC9 trigger pull is WAY to long for my taste.

 

The nano trigger feels a little more 'glockish' to me which is something I like.
