Shipping ammo?

Recommended Posts

I need to ship some ammo the a friend but remember seeing at UPS that they wouldn't ship ammo. Can anyone tell me who will ship it and how much more expensive it is than just regular packages?

UPS will ship it, you have to have a hazmat thing, tell them it is ammo, shipping is a bit more.

I dought you have the hazmat, go to ups store and ask.

I get ammo shipped to my office a bit.

I don't have any kind of hazmat thing. Is that something you can just pay a little extra for when shipping?

You can search the Internet for an ammo hazmat sticker then just print it out and tape it on the box. It's just a sticker that says ORM-D Small Arms Ammunition.

My office is in the same building as the UPS hub in Murfreesboro so i can use them if they will ship it but thats where i thought i saw a sign stating that they would only ship ammo from an approved dealer or something like that. I'll check on finding the sticker to print out and put on there and see if that works.

If anyone else has shipped any recently let me know how you went about it.

I was unaware that UPS had special requirements for ammo. When I sent my secret Santa gift she asked what type of contents the package had. I just replied "toys", as there were multiple shooting accessories and a little ammo. They shipped it fine. They'll ship it. Edited by Lumber_Jack

Well i bought 1000 rounds and my friend wanted 500 so it may be a little more weight than i could pawn off as toys lol. I'll check into it some more but figured someone here had shipped some bulk recently.

Yeah I understand. And now that I know, I wouldn't knowingly try to skirt the rules.

UPS Store won't ship, per their contract.  All UPS hubs will with a sticker they can provide.  Write Small Arms Ammunition on the package.

Good deal, thanks for the help.

Well if you ship ammo make sure you follow the rules.. if you get caught the fines are heavy. (and it is not UPS that does this) You will have to deal with the D.O.T

Just slap the ORM-D sticker on it take it to UPS and ship it!!!! from what I understand the only time you would have deal with hazmat charges are if you were shipping powder, or primers.
