Anyone into airsoft guns?

Thinking about buying me and my daughter a couple of them to give us something to do together outside. the playground is getting boring.   I figured we can shoot targets and cans in the back yard.  it might even get her into guns.       

 

Just wondering if any of you know what a good one is. the electric machine guns look cool , but a bit over kill.

I have bought several through Airsplat. Basically anything under $100 is hit or miss.

We picked up a ar-15 replica air soft for our child's 1st gun . Our plan is to have him treat it as a real gun under close supervision .  Mostly we want him to learn how to treat a real gun before he gets one.

Sports authority has some nice guns. There 1911 looks and feels like the real thing in size and weight.

My top two picks would be tokyo marui and Classic Army.  Really cant go wrong with either one.  I second what murgatory said  cheap ones are typically just that.  They are made from low end plastics and tend to strip gears on the autos and break plastic on the spring guns.  for decent quality guns your looking in the 150-250 range

I bought my brother in law one for high school graduation. It was a KWA 1911 green gas operated. It's a blast to shoot, and accurate. It was about $180-200. Not cheap but it will last for a long time. I think I like it more than he does.

This thread got me thinking that i need to order a Classic Army E90 to go with the PS90 i have on order.  Although not nearly the same as the real gun high quality Airsoft guns are a great training tool.  With the right guns they are as effective a form of training as simunitions.

I have a couple made by a company called KWA.

KWA makes a highend line called PTP (professional training pistol) & PTW (professional training weapon) they of course are more expensive than the typical toy/hobby type stuff, but they are as close to their real firearm counter-parts as they can be w/out firing live cartridges.

PTP/PTW airsoft stuff is over-kill for backyard/recreational use but anyone thinking of using airsoft for force on force training should look into them.

Yep that's the one I bought.



Metal frame/slide. Hammer functions and fires the gun. Thumb safety operates like a real 1911.

Guys, my 14 year old son wants to upgrade from a basic spring action to a nice electric model. His budget is less than $150. Any suggestions?

I've been using a KWA gbb pistol for indoor/winter practice. Much cheaper these days.

I've got an mp5 airsoft... It's the closest ill get to the full auto version. It's pretty fun to tear up the backyard! Edited May 25, 2013 by thundersnow

There is one manufacturer who has a license from hk to produce an mp5 airsoft gun. Its the closest thing to an exact replica as you can get. Its made of metal, and blowback operated. Give me a second ill try to find the link. Ive always wanted it just to play around with in the yard.
