How have you shared your firearms obsession with your wife/gf today?

For most of you guys out there I'm sure you would like for your wife/girlfriend to share your passion for the shooting sports you enjoy, whether it be target shooting, reloading, plinking, IDPA, etc. Sometimes you don't really think to invite them along on your ventures because of how many times you may have been turned down in the past. I would encourage you to continue trying to get her involved. It's time spent together, which most women seem to be fond of for some reason...and you get to shoot. Everyone wins. So what have you done today to involve your significant other in this wonderful sport?

 

I casually invited my wife to come down to the basement and hang out while I reloaded. She surprised me not only by taking me up on the offer but actually helping me. We loaded 50 rounds of .45 in less than an hour. Good times!!  :up:

After 20+ years of marriage my wife finally got her permit this year. I'd like to think that I had something to do with that.

I avoided the nonsense of trying to convince a woman that firearms was a good thing by marrying one that carried a gun for a living for over 25 years. She has her own weapons and realizes it's better to defend yourself that wait for a cop to show up in 15 or 20 minutes.

My father and I taught my now wife how to shoot. Now she has her own firearms and plans shooting trips for us. I also remind my father-in-law how fun shooting is and got my 16 year old BIL shooting.

My wife can shoot better with a pistol than I can. Share, Hell! Her first shot was a natural. I was almost

humiliated. She isn't a waster at the range and rarely goes. She's just good. A gun to her is just like a

Hobart mixer in the kitchen: a tool that has a use, and she uses both well. I was fortunate more than I

knew, when I married her.

My OL is a great woman, born and raised in the hill of eastern KY. Mean, smart, GOOD LOOKING, and a good shoot.

Cooks like only my mother can and more then half the time  better. She is behind me 100% on the firearms thing.

Understands why we reload from the money side, and now from the higher tax side. She is more worried about what the grubment

(yea i spelled it wrong) is trying to do.

My wife has no interest in firear,ms, fishing, cars or many other things I find interesting but she has supported me in my life and hobbies for going on to 34 years so I can not complain much.

My wife likes and shoots firearms almost as much as I do. She likes guns and has her own carry gun as well as comandeering a lot of guns that were mine. She pushed me to get a suppressor and has been pushing me to get a machine gun. Anytime I say I am going to buy something firearm related she only asks what it is and never complains about my shooting habits because she is part of it. As a matter of fact she now like 300 Blackout almost as much as I do so I have to build her one soon.

 

For me to get my wife shooting I just have to say "I bet I can shoot this better than you" and it is game on. And she does shoot better than me most days.

 

I honestly can say I am not sure I would like it if my wife wasn't involved. It lets us spend time together we normally wouldn't have together.

If I get a gun, she gets a purse/shoes or whatever for equal value.  If I she gets a purse/shoes/etc, I can get a gun of equal value.

 

So she's always pushing for me to buy this or that.  But in the end, each gun cost 'twice as much'.  I can't complain, but I'm always broke.

OMG. We have a similar arrangment. It's been mostly unspoken for years, but now it's not, it's a regular "quid pro quo" -- "something for something" or "this for that".

my wife has permit and carries her g19. she enjoys shooting but still a little weary of guns overall. when it comes to my gun purchases our policy is "don't ask don't tell. " overall she's supportive.

 

by the way any thoughts on how to tell her about that remington 700 in the safe would be helpful,,,,,,,,,,

Mine is not quite as into guns as I am.  Though she likes to claim that she is.  

 

She has instructed others (male and female) about shooting a .50 BMG.  She loves to shoot that one every July 4.

 

She defends gun rights even when she's outnumbered by leftist morons at work.

 

She's not a great cook.  So I cook for her when I can.  I'm not a great cook either.  But she eats it (usually).

 

She can't shoot quite as well as I can.  But I'm plenty proud of how good a shot she is.

 

If she practiced, she would be at least as good a pistoleer and rifleperson as I am.  

 

Most of all, she's the foundation of my sanity.  I'm not sure I could function without her.

I've taken my wife shooting a few times and she enjoys it up to a point.  I did manage to talk her into taking the HCP course (she passed) but I've not managed to convince her to go to the DMV and actually apply for it.  I bought her a carry/bedside gun a while back.
