CZ75 D spring replacement reccomendations / help

I am looking to replace the hammer spring (and possibly other springs if recommended) in my CZ to lighten the double action trigger pull. I am tickled to death with everything about this gun except for the ridiculously heavy DA pull. Can anyone recommend a spring weight to change to and still have 100% or almost 100% reliability. From looking at their site Wolff goes down to a 16# spring which is three pounds lighter than the stock 19. If I understand it correctly the factory DA trigger pull is around 14 lbs. Will a new hammer spring reduce just three pounds or more from the pull? Am I totally off base here?

This will be my EDC so if I am getting ready to flubb it up and just need to leave it alone and practice with the factory setup please let me know.

If you are using the factory CZ hammer replace it with the CZ Competition hammer and a 13 lb mainspring.  It will make a world of difference.  If not, put in a clipped 15 lb MS and a lot of dryfire.  The DA pull will smooth out eventually.

Awesome advice!

I change out my factory mainspring in my P-01 for a 13# spring and the trigger pull is considerably lighter. Since I have a decocker, I'm wary about changing hammers (more complicated inside), but the 3 CZs I've had with competition hammers are amazing to shoot.

i cant wait to hear about it. I've heard a lot of good things about that outfit. The owner, David, is always helping folks out over at the CZ forum (czfirearms.us).

He has so much cool stuff I want for my P-01 I don't know where to start.

Hope to have it Friday and will install that night and shoot Friday. Got my new holster today and am loving the gun do far. With the lighter trigger I I just might have a cure for my glock fever!

Just installed the kit. Not sure what my DA pull was before but he said it should be around 14-16 pounds. He also said this kit would make it about 9 pounds. Well it works! I don't have a scale but I can tell a huge difference and the SA pull is amazing now! I haven't actually shot it yet but I can tell I'm gonna love it. Just to clarify the kit included a 11.5 and 13 pound hammer spring (I used the 13) , a lighter firing bin block spring, extended firing pin, and lighter firing pin spring. He said the 11.5 spring has had no reliability issues but the 13 would set off mortar rounds so for peace of mind I used it.

Glad to hear the difference was noticable, congrats. I'd bet money it has a positive affect on accuracy.

Good call using the 13# spring. I tried the lighter spring in my CZ SP-01 and even with the extended firing pin, I got light primer strikes. I had to switch to Federal primers for reloading, because they have softer cups. That's not practical for self-defense, since reliability is so crucial.

Hang onto that 11.5# spring, though. If you ever decide to get a compact CZ model, that spring will work fine. The shorter grip compresses the hammer spring enough that it will consistently set off primers even though it may not do so in a full-size.

Just an update I tested the trigger pull and it's right at 8 lbs using the 13# hammer spring. I am going to try the lighter 11.5# spring and see if I feel much difference.

BigK mine IS a compact version so the lighter spring just might work well in mine. David has said that he has had ZERO reports of failure with the 11.5# spring in the compacts.

That's excellent news from David. Glad he positively confirmed what I'd have guessed about the 11.5# spring in a compact.

Just curious, what CZ model do you have?

Yeah I HATE to but I can't afford to buy another one now and I just can't get used to carrying it. It just doesn't fit me or something. Everyone on the net seems to not have any problem carrying it so I must be weird.
