STAG ARMS AR-15?

Any y'all own a Stag AR-15 .556?

 

I'm thinking hard about trading in my Rock River .223 AR-15 for a Stag model 3L (left handed) and I'd like your opinion before I pull a donkey kong.

 

My Rock River .223 shoots just fine and the only two reasons I'm thinking about switching is...

 

I can shoot both .223 & .556 with the Stag. But the major reason is I'm left handed and it's much more convenient to have the selector switch on the other side and not worrying about having hot brass going down my shirt. Stag seems to be one of the few or only AR makers to offer a left-handed version to people that think in their "right" minds?

 

As far as quality, I'm under the impression most AR manufacturers, Colt, S&W, RR, Stag, etc. are comparable in quality and dependability since they are built to the same standards?

Someone will come in there and tell you that there are dramatic differences in the brands you've mentioned, and then they will poop on any given brand while celebrating another.  I would say that if you want a Left Handed AR, then all other concerns are secondary.  Their quality is going to be close enough to RR that it shouldn't enter into the equation.  I don't own one, but I hear they are a quality item.

You are not going to see or notice a difference in quality. With today's CNC and exacting tolerances the differences between these guns are just for cosmetic reasons. Both guns, RRA and Stag, are going to be built using forged parts of the same quality. I would not worry one bit about the trade, you are not getting hurt.

I have a Stag model 1 and love it. 

 

I have had no problems with it at all and highly recommend it.

Thanks to the ban scare i now have a stag lower.  I like it!  The magwell isn't too tight, unlike my older dpms, and the parts went in without a problem (other than me scuffing up lower in a few parts from the hammer).  If you can get over the ugly deer, they are worth having! Heck, with the ban scare, any ar is worth having.

Stag is good stuff as is Rock River. I too am left handed and have fired several thousand rounds per year for over 20 years. Hot brass bouncing off my scope then back to my face when shooting CMP/NRA matches in the prone and hot gas & powder residue when shooting with a suppressor are the only times that I have wished for a lefty AR. Just lucky I guess. I have got around the supressor thing by a piston conversion and left handed rifles are not legal for service class.

I have a Stag Arms 2T and couldn't be happier. It's very accurate and fun to shoot. It's never failed in any capacity so far. I added an Eotech holographic sight that co-witnesses perfectly with the factory sights. You won't be sorry to get the left handed model.

I agree that most brands are going to be the same as they are all mil spec. Ive shot DPMS, Stag, RR and Yankee AR's with no differences in performance. So if lefty is what you want by all means, get it. But I'm almost certain your RR will shoot .223 AND 5.56. Correct me if I'm wrong.
