Magazine question.

I know this has been discussed before but I want some opinions. I have a certain evil rifle stored in a case with 5 magizine compartments, I have all the mags loaded so I will have them ready for the range but I wont be going to the range anytime soon to conserve a little ammo for a while. Anyway, the same ol tired question, should I unload these "european" made magizines to keep tension off the springs if i'm not going to shoot my rifle for some time? I have heard before, yes, or it don't matter. I'm leaning towards yes, store them empty. Edited by PackinMama

Useless while empty, aren't they? Also, the consensus is that storing them loaded (compression) doesn't wear them out, but rather that cycling them compressed and relaxed (using them) does.

There is also a lot of anecdotal evidence of "My grandfather left such and such mag loaded for 40 years and when he died I fired it and it worked fine!".

Half of the people will say store them empty and the other half say full. With that said half of my pmags are empty, lol. Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2

I've heard that cycling them is worse, they are mostly E. German AK mags which I assume are of decent quality. I guess i,m just concerned there wont be many around for replacement or they will be too expensive.
Yep, I don't think Mr. Bad Guy is going to wait while you load your magizines.

They've dug up German weapon caches in Russia and found loaded magazines. Been loaded 60 years! Still work fine. I don't know how old you are, but I will not live that much longer. Load them all. Magazines are a great place to stash ammo.

"Magazines are a great place to store ammo." Wish I'd said that.
