What are you planning on bringing, Geek?

I mean, if it is towed, maybe we should talk :leaving:

Hope the GF can make it. Heck, I hope I can make it. We'll be focusing on milsurp and new shooters if I do.

I was thinking about bringing my friend and his 50 BMG, we have been looking for a decent long shot for a while. That is only if he is up to going.

I dont know if I want to bring the GF yet still debating  ... give me an excuse to get away for a little while.

No set start and end times for the shoot. Last one at my place folks started showing up about 10:30 and I think we finally broke for dinner about 6:30 that afternoon.

Mars, you're most welcome to camp. Need a lantern, stove, heater, whatever?

How much a round, and how hard does it kick?

I will have to ask him on how much a round. I know ammo for it is not cheap and it is hard to come by so we use it very sparingly.

As far as the kick, it is not as bad as you would think but of course it has some umf to it and you definitely have to hold on. But it gives you that funny feeling and then you need a smoke after you shoot it.

I'm fine on lanterns and stoves. What I seem to have misplaced are two dome tents. I can find the backpacking one, but that is a bit cramped. I'll have to do a bit more of a search. Maybe I put them in the pop-up where I would know where to find them. :)

Boy, howdy! I adjust my class schedule to meet the shoot schedule and you guys change the shoot schedule on me. Darned. The price I pay for the smell of gunpowder most every weekend and several days through the week. :) As General George S. Patton once said "God help me I love it. I truely love it." This one I was hoping to make for sure but I'll be running and shooting the backsides off some Defensive Shotgun in the Home shooters that Saturday.

Y'all have fun. :)

Coal Creek Armory in Knoxville has some 50 BMG I think. I was in there on Monday and saw some I think. I remember it being like $3 something a pop. You'd have to ask JWP on here to be sure.

Sportsman's Guide has some, it's just as expensive but with shipping.

The last time we got ammo I think it was about 2.50 a round of course that has increased since then. We are getting set up for reloading but you can only use the brass so many times. Definitely not something shot on a regular occasion.

ccw or HCP? :D

If you get lonesome for a long gun to shoot Mike you can always try out that ishpoor...but remember, if you shoot it, you have to clean it.. hmhmhmhmh

BTW, that's Ishapore, as in Ishapore, Barrackpore, West Bengal,

India. Calcutta is probably the biggest recognizable city by most Americans. :P

As far as shooting your new rifle, that would be akin to messin' with another man's new gal. It's only fair that you should have first poke at her. ;)

I've got a Lee-Enfield in .303 that "found it's way" out of S.E. Asia back about 36 years ago with "a fellow I know". At one of the shoots we'll have to swap rifles and shoot a few rounds.

I will happily accept your offer! I think this one will be at several shoots in the future!

It will also be here for this shoot.

I got the Ishy home and cleaned it up, I found a star on the barrel. I'm not sure if this means that the barrel is a star gauge barrel, but I ran a boresnake through it and it's in almost perfect condition. it's a 12 round magazine!! I'm going to go down and put a few rounds through it this morning...

I also want to thank you for an excellent class yesterday! there are some folks that are just good at teaching..Mike I can honestly say that you're one of them. your instruction was superb and the manner in which you delivered the information was flawless. Everyone was at ease and in the best frame of mind to be receptive to the course material.

It was well worth traveling 128 miles to take the class...I hope to send a few folks your way for more training if I can get them to do it.

and now, after that shameless plug, I'd better get back on topic before I get a whuppin from one of the moderators. :) :) :D

I was trying to make it to this one guys, but I'm not going to be able to. I was planning it all out with ShiftYZF today, and then tonight I was reminded that I had already promised my dad that I would help him Sat. Oh well, hopefully I can get back out with you guys soon.....Looks like where Mars left off, I've picked up.

just a simple reminder that this shoot is the fourth saturday, July 26.

Thread is titled correctly but just making sure everyone is reading it right.

Boom, I am still shipboard. I should have been on my way home today.

Some kind of disagreement between the detailer and my boss, so as of yet they haven't decided who will replace me, much less cut travel orders and etc.

If I don't have a relief on board this week, then I am stuck until August. I may not make it myself.

I'm less than totally thrilled about this.

Mike PM'd me and reminded me....and I was mistaken on my dates. I thought i changed it in my calendar, but I guess I didn't. Looks like i'm back in the running, unless I have to work next Sat. as well, but we'll cross that bridge next week.

I'm going to try to make it. I checked the directions and they seemed easy enough. Anyone from around Oak Ridge know the driving time, and maybe want to ride along? I'll be bringing a .22 Marlin, .38 Chief's Spl. and my new XD-9.

Posted

Rumor has it that Mark made it off ship and will be home for the shoot next week.

so who all is coming to this besides me?

Lets get some kind of count.

Posted

I'm definitely on as of now. Picked up my XD-9 yesterday, tried it out today and picked up a few targets for Saturday. I think I can find it with the directions provided. :)

Picked up 15 silhouettes yesterday. Should be able to get some cardboard from work. Looking forward to the meeting.
