I'm thinking about going to CC steam plant tomorrow.  I heard some skipjack have started showing up and that means the big blues and stripers should be right behind them.

Anyone been there lately?

This is from theTennessee Wildlife Officers Association's face book page.
The US Army Corps of Engineers is presently trying to shut down all recreational boat traffic above and below their dams meaning the sportsmen will no longer be able to fish for catfish, stripe, trout, etc around those prime fishing areas. They are trying to do this without even a comment period from the public and are not at all working with our agency or anyone else to back up their reasoning or come to a compromise. Please contact your local congressman or woman and tell them that this is not right and that sportsmen make up a huge percentage of the people in Tennessee.

Nice Brookie..I fish the Caney often.  Gave up fly-fishing years ago.  The shoulders can't take it anymore.

I went CC steamplant this afternoon.  Didn't see a single skip jack, not caught by myself or anyone else.  I did see three different guys crappie fishing and having small amount of success.  One dude had 5 nice keepers and the other two guys had 4-5 legal ones.  That was it though.

Hopefully the skippies come in soon!

What's your recipe for skips? All I've heard of them are they are great bait for blues and George Washington shipped tons of them back to England in his days.

Catfish bait is all those skipjack are worth. Heck of a good fight on ultra light tackle and fly rods!

As soon as the white bass start running real good (March April) time frame, I'll put some trips together for you guys. My bass boat is ready to go...just waiting on the fish (and a partner)!

We usually go up to Douglas lake mid march for the White Bass. Banks are lined full of rods, reels, and fish. Gonna try boating it this year! Edited by cgun86

Dave, I don't know how I didn't see this post, but we should meet up down there sometime. They are generating at full bore right now, but spring time should be more predictable. I'm no professional but we can get fish on the line
