What time tomorrow is the world supposed to end?

I heard a funny line on the radio, " If the Mayans didn't see the spanish coming how can they be right about tomorrow?"

That's a often given cute observation, but the fact is that Maya civilization had collapsed and dispersed a couple hundred years before the Spanish ever arrived.

It was the Aztec people that the conquistadors decimated, and later the Inca too.

It's already tomorrow Down Under and we're still here... I haven't felt the Earth move or anything.

apply more alcohol, mood music, fragrances... etc.

Employ foreplay.

Then maybe you will feel the earth move.

Oh yeah, theeee most important component:  it's better if you have a partner!!!

You just blew my mind.

Midnight here is only 11pm in Maya Land, so we'd have to wait an extra hour for the doom watch to start according to their time. After all, they were very precise, them aliens ain't gonna show up early.

I didn't know what time we all die tomorrow, so I made sure I got my last 2 slices of pepperoni pizza from Joey's House of Pizza today at lunch.I even sprung for onions on it too this time, can't be stingy with the world ending and all.

If by every 13000 years they meant every December, then yes, they'd be right. :P The Earth, Sun, and central band of the Galaxy line up every December. There won't be a precise alignment with the galactic center for about another 4 million years.

I haven't been paying attention but got the impression that the intersection in question has to do with crossing the galactic plane of the ecliptic, not just "lining up" in a straight line? The solar system spends a few thousand north of the ecliptic, then a few thousand to the south of the ecliptic.

There are some theories regarding mass extinctions coincident to certain locations relative to the plane of the ecliptic. Speculation that some parts of the space we wander thru has more perturbing junk than others. Big comets will ruin yer day :)

Then there are quasars-- Beams of intense radiation from galactic central black holes when they eat up the next layer of core stars. Our galaxy's black hole is supposedly well-behaved at the moment, its appetite currently satiated. But if the central black hole is knocking out a substantial death beam, maybe we wouldn't notice til we run into it. Most illustrations of quasar beams show them shooting from the poles of black holes, but maybe that is just a convenient artists conception, dunno.

Every generation of scientists are just as arrogant about what is and is not possible, as the worst of popes, mullahs, and witch doctors ever were. Some of them are even almost as arrogant and ass-hatted as Bill O'Reilly.

Anyway, I don't expect the world to end tomorrow, but in four billion years when we collide with andromeda things might get dicey. Social Security will DEFINITELY be bankrupt by then, and just imagine how big the national debt will be!

I gotcha now.  Maybe if I built a stepped pyramid space alien landing pad out back, it would be tiny of course due to time constraints, they'd fetch me off this retarded planet.

They might just be self-perpetuating progressive machines, no use for thinking homo sapiens. Just like half of the country now.

The time zone clue would be that was in response to a feller in Tri-Cities. :)

And you don't know where the Scruffy Little City is? Where in hell were you educated? ;)

I'm guessing 4:20. I know what a lot of people will be doing in preparation during that time.

As for me, I'll probably stil be frequenting the throne questioning my judgement on this grubby Mexican food. Chili Colorado, great on the intake valve, rough on the ole exhaust valve. At least I will expressing my sentiments on the whole 'end of the world' matter. It's all a bunch of cr£p. No way we (humans) are getting off the hook that easy. It'll be slow and painful, bet on it.
